when i upgrade my tickets to AP at guest relations will they give us the discount list and magic bands right away?

If you don't have a magic band, they can give you grey ones right away otherwise it's similar to a trip where you can customize it online if you want them. They will give you the AP passholder booklet and your AP card right away and link it to your MDE account(s) for you.

No, they do not provide the AP magic band at the time you upgrade.
You will have a chance to order it when you get home. You don't have to but we did
When it comes it arrives in a different box, with a slider designating you as an AP holder, and a discount card.
You can still get the discounts as soon as you upgrade by presenting your AP card and ID
