i know the answer to this at WDW, but want to make sure it's not different at DL. I just bought online a 3 day one park only pass. I just now found out that I will be going back to Anaheim in January and again in October 2016. Probably makes sense to get an AP. What do I need to do to make this happen? Again, my current pass is unused and I will arriving to DL in about 30 days.

Thank you for any advice!

You just have to take your valid ticket to one of the ticket windows and upgrade it (just like at WDW). Unlike WDW, DLR does not usually bridge prices, so you will probably only get credit for what you paid for the ticket. If you ticket includes one MM, be sure to use that before upgrading to the AP because you'll lose the MM when you upgrade (if not already used). The upgrade process is fairly straight forward, but it can still be time consuming (I'd allow about 45 minutes for the process).

I'm planning on doing the same thing in November. Going to get a 4 or 5 day pass so we can get a MM in before upgrading to AP (we arrive Saturday afternoon, the next MM is Tuesday).

My question is, does everyone have to be present for the upgrade process? It would be great if I could take care of it while my wife does fun stuff with the kids. I don't look forward to the complaining from the kids standing around during the upgrade process. :)

I "think" everyone does have to be present. It didn't take that long for us to do, maybe 20 minutes. If you go in the middle of the day you can get to a ticket booth without a wait. They don't take your picture right there, so maybe they don't need the kids to be present, but they do check adult IDs and things when creating the AP. When we got our last APs they took the pictures at the camera shop in DCA. Others have reported that they've found a photo CM to take the picture in the parks.

I don't know for sure, but when my friends upgraded their tickets last November both of them ended up having to be at the ticket window at some point during the process.

we just upgraded 5 day park hoppers to APs last week. Each kid needed to sign a receipt at some point

One more question.... I'm noticing while there in January if I get the AP 2 of the days are blocked out. I was planning on doing Hollywood on one of those days but the other was hoping to get in the park. Any tricks to get in? or do I have to buy a 1 day pass....ugh! thank you
