Upgrading Tickets at Check In

My friend this morning told me that she went to our local Disney store to purchase another 6 day park hopper (she has been buying one a month to spread out the expense). The sales lady asked her if she wanted a 7 day park hopper for $1 more. She then asked if she could upgrade the two tickets she previously purchased to 7 days. She was told no. I know that at WDW, you can upgrade your MYW tickets, but does anyone know if she can upgrade a 6 day ticket to a seven day ticket at checkin? Thank you.

I sure hope so, because I plan to add an extra day on when we get there. :)

So can you upgrade the MYW package ticket (currently I have a 7 day on the dining plan) to an annual pass - if so - for how much?

It seems like I might have even asked this already and have forgotten to go back and check the answer! Ha - - what can I say!?!?

I believe this can be done, but you will have to do it at Guest Relations at the parks, as resorts don't sell APs.

You've already been given correct info, but I think a couple of things may have caused that wrong response. If your friend didn't clarify that she wanted to upgrade the tickets at Disney World, the Disney Store employee may have assumed she was asking if the Disney Store could upgrade her tickets. Furthermore, because the Disney Store is no longer owned by Disney, there is absolutely no incentive for the Disney Store employees to be knowledgeable about Disney World tickets. The employee may have thought he or she was giving correct information because he or she just didn't know.

That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it! :)

Thanks for your theory--which makes total sense. I will pass the information onto my friend tomorrow.
