Upgrading Ticket to Annual Pass Question

We are considering buying an Annual Pass for next year as we may be taking 3 trips (Mardi Gras, Halloween, and early December for 9 nights). We have never had one before as we usually go about every 2 years. We are considering purchasing tickets from a third party seller and upgrading them when we get to WDW. If I were to purchase a 7 day park hopper and upgrade it when I get there, what would the process be?

I have upgraded a ticket to a hopper one time before to do a 4 park challenge, but have never upgraded to an annual pass before. Any help would be appreciated.

Just go to any guest relations, they can do it. That's how we've done it each time we got APs

I had a 10 day base ticket from 2017 which I hadn't used, and upgraded it to an AP when we visited in August 2018. I just went to a ticket window at the TTC. Figure out what the price of your ticket should be ahead of time, so you know if the number they tell you is right or not, and easy peasy. I want to say it took perhaps 10 minutes or so. For sure it was under 15, and we were on our way to the monorail.

Just go to the first ticket window or guest relations you come to.

We always do our AP renewals at whatever park's ticket window we happen to pass right after the renewal period opens.

Even if you do an online purchase you will still have to stop at a ticket counter to convert the voucher and get your AP cards.

If you are not going for your first visit on the AP until Mardi Gras, I would seriously consider buying AP vouchers now instead of buying third-party tickets to upgrade. You can only upgrade those in person, so you will have to pay whatever the AP price is in effect at Mardi Gras. None of us knows if the price will raise again before you go, but it is a possibility. That has the potential to negate any savings of purchasing a discounted third-party ticket. Plus, you’ll have to do the upgrade dance. Sometimes you get a knowledgeable CM and a short line like PP encountered and can be done in 10 minutes. Sometimes you get someone who does not quote you the correct price and you may have to try more than one, or two, or three places to get it. Just some food for thought.

Thanks a bunch. I had not considered the possibility of another price increase due to the fact that prices just went up on APs. I will consider this as I make this decision.

This is a big reason why I bought vouchers last week. I actually have some tickets in my account, but I am saving them for the future. I don't feel like hassling with upgrading so soon after all this nonsense started. Those tickets expire in 2030, so I figure I'll hang on to them!

Yea, these days, I'd just buy vouchers with discounted Disney gift cards. So much less hassle.

Do Guest Service CMs still bridge your discounted UT tickets to the current Disney ticket price?

And do you first have to go through the tapstile to get your ticket up to the current price? Then go and upgrade your ticket to an AP??

Sorry I'm still a little confused its been a while

:thanks:

It’s not quite as simple as that.
Look at the “Price to Upgrade” post in the All About Tickets Sticky.
