Upgrading question for AKL

I have a question for all the AKL veterans. Lasy year when we stayed at WL, we booked standard and could have upgraded to concierge last minute at a very discounted rate. Does AKL also try to upgrade people this way. I have read that some get upgraded to Sav. for free, but what about concierge?

during April of 2002 and were thrilled when we received a complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe Savannah View room. I don't know about concierge upgrades, though.

A few weeks ago I was able to upgrade to a suite for much less than the rate CRO was quoting when I checked in, and then they additionally upgraded us to a 2BR suite for the upgrade price for the 1BR.

I have not been upgraded because we book the savannah view room - I don't want to take any chances. I have heard of people being upgraded to savannah at n/c, for a nominal fee, or for the full price difference. I have not heard of any concierge upgrades at n/c but it never hurts to ask. I guess it also depends on what time of year you go.

We were able to upgrade from Deluxe Savannah View to Concierge in December but the cost was $100 per night. I've read of many others getting this same offer. So while upgrading to concierge at AKL is possible, it is not for the nominal fee that the WL sometimes charges.
