Upgrading Promotional Tickets

We purchased "Disney Vacation Club Member 6-Day Ticket (Includes 6th Day FREE) with Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More" when they were selling them earlier this year. We have since made reservations for our 2017 trip and it is less than 12 months from our 2016 trip.

Can we upgrade these tickets to APs? If so, when is the best time to do this and where?

I believe they said you could upgrade them to an AP but that you would only get what you actually paid (the ticket would not be price bridged) since it was a special promotion. You can do it at any guest services and the AP should be back dated to the first day you used the ticket.
Also keep in mind if you use any water park entitlements prior to the upgrade you will have to buy the most expensive AP that includes water park access.

Keep in mind that all upgrades must be done within 14 days of the first use of the original ticket.

Will I be able to add a couple of days to my promo 5 day pass. I bought the passes last winter and our trip will now be 8 days. TIA

You should be able to add days, but your tickets will not be price bridged. You'll essentially lose any discount you received on the promotional tickets. The price you paid will be applied towards a regular, 8 day ticket.

We have the same issue. I bought a 9 day but we extended the trip to 11 park going days. Don't know what to do with the 9 day ticket but we have decided to use an old 5 day hopper and upgrade to an annual pass. Maybe someday we will go back to Disney for 9 days....
