Upgrading PH to AP questions

I searched and didn't see an answer, so my apologies if this is covered.

I know there is a place inside disneyland park where park hoppers can be upgraded to APs. Where else can it be done? Ticket booths? How about the hotels?

Also, does anyone know if you can get the DVC discount when you use a park hopper to upgrade to an AP?

Thanks in advance!

I think you can only upgrade at the AP processing center. If you can upgrade other places, then you'd still have to go to the AP processing center to get your photo taken and your actual AP. So I'd just go there and wait in line once....

You can do it at the Guest Relations building outside of the Park; however, as 3Minnies1Mickey said, you will still have to go to the AP Processing Center to get your actual AP. If you have ever been an AP holder previously, however, you don't have to make the second stop.

Ok -- thanks everyone. I understand you need at least one day left on the PH to upgrade it. Does that mean you can't use your last day to enter the park to go to the processing center? In other words, if you have a 6-day that you want to upgrade, do you have to do it on day 5?

Hi lark!

You can do it on your last day. What the "one day left" thing means is that you can't, under normal circumstances, upgrade after the ticket is not valid anymore. Whereas at WDW you can do it as long as it's inside 14 days and you're still there.

But the only reason to wait is if there's a blockout day during your trip...oh wait. I was just going to say that you might as well upgrade asap to get the discounts, but DVC gets pretty much the same discounts.

When we upgraded to APs we just took our hoppers in to the AP processing center. Paid, gave our info, had pictures taken all in one shot.

And yes, I do believe that you still get the DVC price when upgrading. :goodvibes

Bumbershoot -- hi! Thanks much.

That's exactly our situation -- we're probably going at the end of December, which are blackout days on the ap, but we'll also be there when the blackout lifts, so we wanted to get the AP after that. I think we can do it on day 5, but if we could do it on day 6, that would be easier. Thanks again!

You can get it on the last black out day too, you would do that at the ticket booth, then you have admission to the parks and get your AP before you leave that day. And yes, DLR lets you park hop without paying the black out fee for the day. :)
