upgrading kids to adults on DDP - buffet question

So we've upgraded our three kids (7,8 and 9) to 10 year olds on our reservation to get them the adult dining plan. Will we be charged as 5 adults or 2 adults and 3 children at Buffets/all-you-care-to-eat places?

I'm just trying to figure out about how much to have put away for tips.

If you pay with the dining plan you will be paying with adult credits for everybody, so they will probably figure the tip on the adult price.

If you pay cash for the kids it'll be on the kids' price.

If those are the only 5 ppl in your party, you won't be charged mandatory tips at all. Only once you hit 6 guests. So even if they bill you $32x5 (and credit you $32x5 since you're paying DDP) you can leave whatever tip you like.

If you're planning on lots of buffets tho, that's a bad plan to upgrade them to adults cuz you're just paying more for the same thing. Kids eating at buffets for the kid-price of $20/day instead of $62/day is what generally makes the DDP a good value.

Boma and Tusker House will be with a large party, Akershus and 'Ohana breakfasts will be just the 5 of us. Our other TS meals are all non buffet.

We have FD, so upgrading them only cost us the price of upgrading them to adult tickets. We did it mostly for our QS credits. They are not fond of the kids items offered on kids menus, and my 9 year old will be a month shy of turning 10 andhe definitely eats more than the kid portions (I found myself sharing with him quite a bit last year because he'd finish his kids meal and still be hungry).

I have no problem leaving good tips (I'm a server myself), I was just budgeting about how much our tips would be, just to get an idea.
