Upgrading kids to adult status; sharing?

Haven't been around here in awhile, forgive me if its common knowledge. Last year you were able to pay for kids to be at the adult level and maybe this is a good idea if don't like the kiddo options. Also, sharing was OK as long as everyone was adult status so no worries about using kid credits for adult meals. Has this changed at all? If we did upgrade kids to adult status, they would likely split each adult meal (sharing). Would that be fine?

we looked into this when booking a trip for later this year. We have emailed Guest Services, and called and spoke to a rep, who put us on hold to ask Guest Services. Both times, the answer was that yes, we can "change our dd's age to age 10, but this will result in also having to pay adult price on the park ticket as well."

We decided to just leave her as a child because I KNOW the adults aren't going to need every bite of their own meals...we'll just let her sample ours, in addition to her own kids meal, if her kids meals are not enough variety.

I don't mind paying the upcharge as long as sharing is still allowed such that don't have to use all 4 TS adult credits every time we sit down. If Disney hasn't moved to that policy (I think there was talk of that last year so I'm checking back now), I think the kids could share and the four of us use 3 TS credits at each TS non buffet.

What ages are your children? Because the cost would be $28 per day, per child to upgrade from a child's plan at $10.99/day to an adult plan at $38.99/day. Plus the cost of upgrading each child's park ticket to an adult ticket, and that would vary from about $4-$11 per child per day depending on how many days your tickets are for. If you are upgrading 2 kids to adult tickets and DDP, it would cost you a minimum $64 more per day -- and you could certainly buy an extra OOP adult meal for cheaper than that!

Not knowing your kids' ages, it might make more sense to just buy the DDP as is, with 2A and 2C, order the kids' meals, and then pay extra OOP for something more for the kids -- an appetizer to share, or even an adult entree if they are really hungry. And for every buffet or all-you-care-to-eat restaurant you go to, your kids will have the exact same menu selections adults will -- and can eat as much as they want -- for a LOT less money.
