Upgrading from QSDP to DDP for us was a no brainer!

Since it's just myself and my DGD(7) this trip I'd booked the QSDP to save some money and DGD isn't that into the restaurants. Well, ended up booking the F! dinning package, then thought, well, can't go to WDW and not get the french onion soup at CdF. I got to thinking about it and looked at the price difference (5 night stay was $55) and heck, I'm gonna save $ switching and get more TS too!:rotfl:

Since it's just DGD and I, we're not doing any signatures so it'll work out great.

Anyone else end up doing this?

I was thinking about it but ended up coming to the opposite conclusion. The tips not being included was one of the major "cons" for me as well as the fact that I wanted this trip to be a little more carefree. I only have one ADR and that's for the dessert party.

Planning to do a lot of water parks & things like that this trip so depending on what the weather and crowds are like I may want lunch at noon or I may not want it til 2 or 3. If I had an ADR for noon though I'd have to leave the water park or lose out on that meal.

I think if this were a more structured trip I would have been much more open to the DDP but for the way I'm hoping this trip will go I think QSDP will work better for me.

I also like the extra snack and refillable mug (especially since they got the adorable new pink one!).

Yes I've done the same for my trip in august. It will be myself, my sister and daughters and although I am paying for everything for all of us it was a no brainer to upgrade from free QSDP to DDP. Paying Mama Melrose OOP would be higher then paying for DDP LOL It really was a no brainer plus we get to eat more then hamburgers everyday

Exactly what I thought! I know I'll be tipping on top of it at the TS restaurants but I've got $160 on my Disney Visa Awards card I didn't really know what to burn it on.lol Now I do!

I only booked TS meals for lunch when we'd be taking a break anyway in the hot afternoon. We'll eat a TS lunch at the park and then back to AKL to chill at the pool. We're going at the end of May / First of June so we were planning on afternoon breaks anyway. When we head back to the parks in the evenings, we'll have the counter service meal to do when we get hungry.

As far as the mugs go, I pretty much stopped getting them a few trips back because we just weren't getting enough use out of them. To me, they're just not that handy to use. I'd rather get something out of the little fridge in the room. That said, I might get us one this trip because they're new and they do make good souvies.

Okay, and I'll admit, I'm used to doing the TS meals on my trips and even though it's just me and my 7yo DGD this time, I can't go and not do AAANY TS meals.lol We're not doing any signatures though!:rolleyes1

I hear what you're saying. We're not planning on doing water parks this time since only a 6 night, (5 days) stay. I made my ADR's for lunch time so we wouldn't have to interrupt our evening touring. And nothing early morning since I couldn't snag any breakfasts b/4 park opening at this late in the game. This way, I'm hoping I've got a balance between not being too regimented and having at least one sit down in the AC meal a day. We'll see how it goes.

We just gotta each do what we think will work for our family.

Oh, and I'm definately gonna miss that extra snack a day that's on the QS! I already had those planned out!

I booked moderate with free quick service and upgraded to regular dining for $13. extra per day per person. We enjoy having one sit down meal, no other reason. But when I looked at upgrading to deluxe, it was $40 per day per person more- that wasn't worth it.
