Just wondering when you have free dining can you upgrade to Deluxe dining and just pay the difference, and does anyone know what the difference is per day for an adult and child? I was just trying to figure out if we even have to pay oop for one or two meals if it would be worth it to upgrade anyways... Thanks, heather

You were able to upgrade last year. I think it was around $30-$40 more per person, per day. Many liked it b/c you can also order an appetizer with your entree. However, it wasn't worth it for us b/c most of the sit-down breakfasts cost less than the difference.

yeah, for that amount of money we wouldn't spend that much on a few extra meals and snacks, not per person... the regular dining plan was almost perfect for us a couple yrs ago, I think we only paid for an extra character breakfast and some snacks

thanks

We did it last year and it was definately worth it. The deluxe gives you 3 meal credits a day and two snacks. The meal credits can be used for a quick service or a table service. For us, we mostly did a character breakfast in the morning, a snack for lunch and then a 2 TS credit restaurant for dinner.

The cost is just the difference between the basic and the deluxe. For 2009 the Deluxe plan is $71.99 and the basic is $39.99, so the differential cost is $32.00 a person for each night of your stay.

I do not think deluxe is wort hit especially with a 4 year old (who by teh way is ADORABLE in your pix) anyway, it is a lot of time, 1 1/2 hour each sit down and the traveling back and forth becomes tiring F A S T with a small child. I think adults who can take advantage of good restaurants have it made, but families, not so much with little ones.
have a great trip! pixiedust:

It really depends on your eating habits. My family enjoys a sit down breakfast in the morning and another in the evening to unwind from a busy vacation day. My kids are 3yo & 5yo and enjoy going out to eat and can only take eating burgers, chicken strips & fries for so long :crazy2: You don't have to drag your kids from park to park all day long for your TS. I used Touring Plans to figure out what parks we'll be going to on what days then scheduled our dining around that.

Thanks for all your help... and for the compliments on my son, he may be cute but he is 100% pure boy. I dont think we would spend another 75.00 on food per day I think the last time around I only paid for one extra character breakfast, and we felt like we were filled up to the eyeballs with food. Thanks again, Heather

We are already paid in full, with the regular dining plan, for 9/4 through 9/13. If we upgrade to deluxe, will we get any credit, or is the upgrade an "even" swap if we have already paid for the regular?

Are you on a bounce back free dining booking? If so, you can just upgrade your free dining to deluxe for the difference between the two plans.

If you are currently booked just in a basic package, you will need to wait to see if Disney offers a general public free dining plan in September again (most likely they will). If they do, you'll need to book a new package and cancel your existing on to take advantage of the free dining offer. Then the same rules apply to the upgrade.

Keep in mind the free dining packages are really nothing more then a discount off the full rack rate price, so if you are booked in any sort of discounted room/package, it may not be worth it to switch.
