Upgrading dining plan upon check-in?

If I purchased the QSDP and then decide to upgrade to the reg. DDP, can I do this when I check-in to the resort?

I don't believe so. Any changes have to be made 72 hours in advance.

The previous poster is correct. All changes to the reservation have to be made 72 hours before check-in. (48 hours for DVC reservations, I believe.)

we've upgraded several times at less than 45 days...as close as a week before arrival...and they have never charged a change fee/penalty. Generally if you're choosing to pay them more, they waive the fees to change. That said, some have reported having to pay an extra $15 change fee when they've upgraded so could happen!

The $15 may be charged if you try to make ANY changes to a package reservation within two weeks of arrival. (Sometimes it isn't charged apparently)

What is certain, though, is that you cannot upgrade or add a dining plan upon arrival, it must be done ahead of time.

Outside of the change fees, I would think the biggest concern would be if it was worth it to upgrade not knowing if you can even get into the table service restarants you'd like to experience. With next to no advance notice, particularly if you are going during a free dining promo period, I'd think it might be challenging to use last minute TS credits without ADRs.

I know there are some places you can usually get into with out an ADR if you're not overly particular or maybe I've just been brainwashed into drinking the ADR Koolaid since all of mine have been made since the 180 day mark. But it's my reality and it works for me.
