We booked a standard room on the Disney website for May 9-12. We had a standard room a few months ago and we were still fortunate to have a view of DTD...the end of it but still a view. The problem is it will be my DH, DD16, DS3 and my mom. I know it's doable but I really don't want to be cramped. I have called a couple of times to see if we can upgrade to a suite and they don't have anything available. The money isn't a huge issue right now because I was super lucky and went gambling to a local indian casino a couple of weeks ago with my mom. I won 20,000! Woo Hoo! So it is another trip to Disney. Now that I am completely off track my question is: Should I keep calling? Should I call the hotel directly? OR should I wait until I arrive?

How about reserving another standard room and request connecting?

I have similar experience. I am travelling with another family and it turns out that a 2 BD suites is not that much more expensive for us especially if we throw in concierge ($150 per night) .

In February, we were looking at 4 nights around June 19-23. Only the middle 2nights 2 nights ( June 20-22) are availabl eand I make the reservation. Call again for 3 more weeks and get June 23. However, no luck for Jun 19. 2 weeks ago, check again with disneyand hotel was full for June 19 (except one-bed-room suite that I found in expedia). I am upset as I do not want to change hotels after the first night and I do not want to pay for 2 one-bedroom suite. So I keep on calling and checking the web at the same time. Finally after about a week, 2 more standard rooms are availabe and make the bookings right away. We do not need concierge for the standard rooms as I believe I can access the lounge the next morning when I checked in early to the concierge room.

You may want to try 5/6 days before your day or arrival. This is when the penalty kicks in. Also, have you tried disney travel. I think some rooms are kept for the travel agencies but you have to book a package. Try tripadvisor or expedia as well.

Good Luck !

Or you could see if there is a suite available at DLH. I know money isn't really an issue for you (lucky:cool1: ) but you might even save a few bucks if you go that route...
