Upgrading AP to PAP ??s

We will be going "home" in Nov/Dec but our APs wont renew til Jan. My ? is....could we upgrade to a PAP for our upcoming trip, and will it be pro-rated or will it be the full price difference?

We have never been to Disneyquest or the water parks but would seriously consider doing both. We will be in the World for 15 days so wont be doing parks everyday.

Anyone ever done this so close to renewal date? Any advice would be great. If it sounds like a dumb idea, I can take it

You'll pay the difference in price between the AP and PAP no matter when you upgrade. Disney no longer prorates this type of upgrade.

The difference is approx $128 for an adult pass. If you think you will go to the waterparks or DQ enough to justify the upgrade, consider a waterpark/DQ annual pass. For about $10 more, you can enjoy unlimited admissions to either for a whole year. The year won't match your AP (if you renew it in January, but it will be close.

Check out some of the online ticket brokers if you just want a few single day admissions. For example, last time I check Ticketmania, the price for an adult DQ admission was $ 21. Sign up for MouseSaver's newsletter for the special price.

Your DVC membership or AP will get you a $4 discount off adult gate price for a single day admission to the waterparks or DQ.

I should add that if you have the discounted DVC member AP and want the discounted DVC member PAP, the diffrence in price is about $100.

If you have the regular AP and want/qualify for a DVC member discounted PAP, you'll probably be able to exchange your AP for the PAP without a charge. Other members have reported success when they asked to do that. (A DVC-discounted PAP is actually a few dollars less than a regularly priced AP,but official Disney policy does not provide for refunds - some have gotten them, though).

We did that years ago (upgraded with only a month to go). Way back when, they used to pro-rate them and it used to be a really sweet deal.... But, when we did the upgrade years ago (I'm thinking this was at least 5 years ago), the CM said they were changing the policy with no more pro-rating the upgrades--but, perhaps someone else may have done this more recently...

You could always ask what it would cost and see if it would be worthwhile... (I am assuming that you already have the DVC APes since you purchased in Jan?).

Thanks so much! You have both answered my questions with additional info. Since they wont pro-rate anymore it doesnt make sense to do this so late in the game. We will probably bypass the waterpark but still do DQ. Thanks for the heads up about mousesavers. I will check that out. We will wait for the renewal in Jan and upgrade to PAP. Still hope that DVC discount is going on then
