Upgrading Annual Pass Question

I was looking to get power passes for our October trip because we are going to Universal for 5 days. I see that they have blackout dates for June and July. If I decide to take another trip in June 2015 when the blackout dates are in effect, can I upgrade my power pass to a preferred pass for the remainder of the time the pass would be in effect?

I'm hoping to take DSIL to WDW next June if we can work out her getting the kids from her ex for a greater chunk of time than their divorce decree states. If so, we'd like to swing over to Universal for a few days. If it doesn't work out, then we won't go to Orlando next summer. That's why I don't want to invest in the preferred pass at this time.

Yup, you can upgrade but your expiry date won't change.

Great, thanks for the info! That's what I was hoping to hear. Now keeping my fingers crossed that all will work out for SIL so we can get her family to WDW/US!!!
