Upgrading Airmiles Tkt to DVC AP

I know that I can upgrade a regular ticket to a DVC AP, but can I upgrade an Airmiles ticket to a DVC AP?
And if so, do they just take the cost of the current price for the ticket?

I have upgraded the 5day Airmiles ticket to DVC AP no problem. I even upgraded the Aeroplan tickets. Very easy. For Aeroplan though it was just an email print out so it had to be done before entering the park. With Airmiles, you can enter the park and then upgrade inside.

I have heard you should put the ticket through the turnstile first before upgrading. We have done this upgrading tickets from Undercover Tourist to APs.

In case the Airmiles tickets were bought like a year before and it was at the old price. Once you enter, then the tickets are valued at the current price so you pay the difference of todays price and the AP with DVC discount. But it does not matter for Aeroplan it appears. I was worried about that and asked at the gate before I went ahead and converted to AP and the lady said it was the same price if I used it first or not.

My question now is if we get the 5 day airmiles can we then updgrade to no-expiry?? One of us will have a valid AP for our summer trip and I was thinking of doing another trip with no parks.....there is way so much to do at the DVC resorts so I want to chill.

Why? To get the credit for the pass in Disney's system. You get the same credit as they show on their list prices at the gate. So it doesn't matter what you paid for it (i.e through free miles etc or discounted), you get credited with a higher Gate price. Works out to your favour ...
