Upgrades Question

Okay.... I always am reading how people get FREE upgrades and I want to know MORE !!

How do you get these upgrades ??? Just ask ?? And if it is that simple, what do you ask for ??

We are going to be at AKL at the end of September, we have booked a pool view standard room, what are the chances of an upgrade on that ??

Someone please fill me in on this !!!!

Be polite and friendly to the CM at check-in. If there are rooms available you may be offered one. The last thing to do is "expect" the upgrade. You'll never see it then. Plus, get there early.

The chances for an upgrade are always slim, but you have a better chance of getting an upgrade at AKL than at any other resort. In my experience, if you ask, you won't get one. I stayed there 3 times this summer. Once I booked a savannah view. Once I asked and was told no. Once I booked a standard, didn't ask, and was given an upgrade. They seem to be given out at random and are a nice surprise if you do luck into one.

I think we feel like we hear about it happening frequently, because every person that gets an upgrade immediately comes running back to tell everyone their great news. The thousands of people that go every week and do not get an upgrade, don't come running to the boards bragging that they got what they paid for.

On our trip in June we booked a std view and when we checked in I told the CM that I would "never turn my nose up at a complimentary upgrade", then next thing I knew we were in a Savannah View room at no charge. I say ask about a complimentary upgrade and see what happens. The worst they can say is no. Have a great time. AKL is awesome.

We booked a stnd pool view at AKL and this is what we got. After hearing about our room, I then asked about an upgrade, and was offered to pay for one. We were even there celebrating our 10yr anniv. and my bday. My inlaws checking in the next day booked a fl res stnd room and were upgraded to deluxe savannah! I guess it all depends on what's available and how nice the CM wants to be. My suggestion is if view is important, book what you want to avoid disappointment.
