Upgrades on TA bookings

While I prefer to do my own bookings or at least use a Disney specialist, I got a gift certificate for local agency and used it for WDW/DCL. For the record, I remember why I prefer to do it myself.

Anyway, I wondered if anyone has received an upgrade on a TA booking, especially when the cabin number was assigned when the booking was made?

I have gotten a massive upgrade with Liberty travel when we sailed on a Carnival cruise. We paid for an outside cabin(with just window) and was upgraded to the largest suite on board(double verandah an all)! We have also upgraded at the docks for DCL and paid a minimal amount for the upgrade!

Our first cruise was booked thru a local agency and were assigned a room number that we selected from the ship outline...oh we could have saved SO much money if I had known about this board & tried online first. Anyhow, in hicksville USA with our little agency booking we were upgraded from an 11 to an 8. We did book 11 months out. I found out when we made our finaly payment 3 months before the cruise date. I started crying right there in the office. LOL! I don't think there is a pattern with when you book, if you get a room assignment or gty, or who you book with. Pixie dust is magical and doesn't work within rules.
