upgrades at the port

We've cruised five times and have never been upgraded. The last cruise in January the CM at check-in said the ship was full

They do. IT just depends when you are sailing, as they are very very few. Your best bet is to arrive as early as you can at the port. Mention it at the check-in counter, and then they will advise you as to what/if available. It is MUCH cheaper than booking it..

What is the biggest jump that people have done at the Port?

I've heard of cat 4's going to cat 3. 9's going to 5's and 6's, etc. What I've not seen though is someone paying to bump from at Cat 10-11-12 up to a Cat 3-4 -- anyone ever done this?

At present on our 10/23/05 cruise there are still 5 cat 3 rooms open. I'd love to snag one at a hugely reduced rate.

How can you tell that? We are currently booked in a category 4 (we needed a room for 5), but I REALLYwanted to book the category 3

So what I'm reading here is that sometimes you can upgrade for less at the port? Hmmmmm....that would be awesome

I've never heard of anyone going from a 10 or 11 to a 3 or 4. That doesn't make sense. If they upgrade a 10 or 11 to an 8 (or even a 6), and then upgrade the 8 to a 6 and a 6 to a 3, they have 3 happy families. If they move from an 11 to a 3, only one family is happy.

There are occasionally upgrades available at the port, and they are discounted. However, frequently there are none available. Bottom line is book something you will be happy in....if you get a free or paid upgrade, consider yourself lucky.

the biggest complimentary upgrade I've heard of has been from cat 11 to cat 6.
