Upgrades at resorts and cruise

Has anyone been able to upgrade at a WDW resort or on the cruise without an increase in point value?

Upgrades at DVC Resorts without an increase in points is not done.

Upgrades at WDW Resorts (non-DVC). We have heard of a few members getting nicer accomadations at check-in because they asked. It depends on what is available during your stay.

Upgrades on the cruise are occasionally done but are at DCL discretion. They are not given based on someone asking. They are given if DCL overbooks a catagory and then they pick at random a person in that catagory to "bump" up

The answer is generally no. The exceptions will be things like:

• compensation for some horrible thing Disney did like total your car when they park it.
• possible if the room type or view is unavailable.
• When using points for a DCL, DC, CC, etc; I suspect it's possible. Especially with cruises as they sometimes oversell.

As a matter of fact, my first impression is that it may be inappropriate to ask for one just for the sake of asking.
