Upgrade to DVC discounted AP renewal pass?

We are considering doing the MYW/free dining offer to stay at our old favorite PORS, then a few days at OKW. We have APs so would like to buy one day base park passes (to qualify for package) and then use them to upgrade to APs at the DVC discounted renewal rate. Can we do this?

You can if you want another activated AP when you do it. You won't get a voucher for it to use at a future date.

Since we do not need to renew until January, I guess this won't work. Also, I read on another thread that CMs have been saying you must use at least one day of the MYW package ticket during your package stay, so I guess I wouldn't be able to save the one day base tickets to upgrade for 2 family members going on a trip with us in late October, right?

To the best of my knowledge, this is not correct. There is no expiration date listed on the ticket, in the ads, or on the package descriptions. Therefore it is good for 14 days from first use just like any other MYW ticket is. If using an admission was a requirement, it would say that the ticket expired at the end of your package to make sure that you used it. It doesn't.

Really now, what are they going to do...charge you for all the meals you ate all week because you didn't use the park admission before you left?
