Upgrade To Cat 3?

Hi;
I booked a CAT 4 cabin (Disney Magic May 22), and put myself on the waiting list for a CAT 3, I'm still waiting to hear from DCL. Does anyone know if I have a chance of getting the suite? or if its better to try to get the upgrade during check in.

I waitlisted for a CAT 3 about 8 months prior to our sail date and was surprised to be called about three weeks later with the upgrade (and associated $$, as well, of course). We had to postpone a year so we went ahead and booked CAT 3 from the beginning on the new cruise, so I can't tell you how it is yet!

Of all of the complementry upgrades reported here on the DIS, a few have involved being bumped up to a cat 3. So it's possible (for free). If they "constantly" give out comp upgrades to the cat 3, then purchasing an upgrade at the port probably won't happen.

If you remember the little black kid from "Angels in the Outfield" his "tag line" was "It could happen!!" and it could happen for you.

We were waitlisted for a cat. 3 and cat 2. Much to my surprise, we got the cat 3 by the next day I believe (it was all finalized then). AND I guess I was still on cat 2 waitlist because I got a call for that too!!!

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. We upgraded last year on the Magic from a Cat5 to a 3 when we did our check in. And I'm willing to pay for the difference, as long as my husband doest know how much it is.
