Upgrade to AP in app?

A few q’s! Tickets bought direct from Disney last month if that matters.

1) I recall there were some serious issues with this when it launched, has it gotten any better?

2)I want to upgrade to the lowest level SoCal pass as a SoCal resident, can I select that in the app?

3) Can you pay with gift cards?

I would have to upgrade on my last day but last time this was a freaking nightmare as the CM didn’t know what she was doing at all. I would love to avoid that misery.

We upgraded Disney-bought tickets in the app to a Flex AP and then still had to go to the ticket booths because the AP expiration date was wrong (it started from the date we bought the tickets, not the date we activated them). Next time I’d probably just go to the booths in the first place.

I would say it depends. We were given the option to upgrade our tickets in the app, but when we went to actually do it, it would not apply the cost of the tickets. Several OP have had the same issue, but many others have done it fine through the app. One person did it through the app and didn’t notice that it wasn’t applying the cost of their tickets to the AP, and it was quite a hassle to get that price difference refunded.

You can check on your first day in the app to see if it is allowing you to upgrade and go through all of the steps to see if it is applying your ticket price. Just don’t finalize it until your last day. You will still eventually have to go to the ticket booth to get your physical pass (unless you can still use your old one?) and possibly to adjust the expiration date at OP stated.

The upgrade process at the ticket booth for us was long and painful and I don‘t know why it took so long... I don’t know if you can use GCs.

We upgraded a UT ticket and a SoCal ticket to Flex APs last month. The app showed the value of each ticket to be applied towards the upgrade but we decided to upgrade at a ticket window to receive our AP cards.

It took quite awhile and a few minutes after leaving the window, I noticed the system based the expiration dates on the purchase dates. I called the next day and a request to IT fixed the dates.

Gift cards can be used at the Ticket Windows for the upgrades.
