I have recently begun doing research regarding a possible April 2002 cruise and have read several posts where people mention getting "upgrades" upon check-in.

Is this similar to what occassionally happens at WDW resorts? Does the CM just ask you (if there's something available), or did you ask if there were any upgrades available? Did you have to pay for the upgrade if it happened, or was it "on the house."

I would guess that this doesn't happen very often, but the posts indicate differently.

Thanks for the info.

Dodie, upgrades are definitely the exception and not the rule on DCL, but they do happen. You almost know BEFORE the cruise, though, not at the port, if you have been offered a free upgrade. At the port you can ask to PAY for an upgrade, they will not offer you a free upgrade. It's usually a pretty expensive proposition at that point, but not always.

Hope that helps a little! :)

We'll be on the Magic April 20-27!! My countdown clock says its now only 3 months 12 days, 20 hours.......

I am soooo excited! (Even though this will be #3 for us).

:)
