DD is in Orlando this week with GF. GF wants to upgrade her 4 day hopper to add another day tomorrow. Now, she will get full credit for all 4 days when she upgrades to the new 5 day MYW ticket, correct? So difference should be about 40.

The trade-in dollar value should be what she paid for the ticket, prorated according to days already used, if she bought the ticket at the ticket window. Tickets bought from other sources, such as AAA, may have a lesser trade in value reflecting the wholesale pricing the third party obtained bulk tickets for.

Ask about the dollar value at the moment of attempted trade-in, then take the ticket back, step out of line, and think about it.

The 5 day MYW ticket with park hopping option added is $242.80 (inc. tax), do you know what she paid for the 4 day hopper?

Much will depend on when the 4 day hopper was purchased. Tickets can only be upgraded up to 7 days after 1st use. What they would do is see what the original price of that 4 day ticket would be. Buy the 5 day hopper and apply the amount that the 4 day ticket was worth toward the 5 day hopper and GF would be responsible for the difference. Then the usage of the old ticket would be applied to the new ticket so she would have the one day left to use. Not knowing all of the variables, I cannot even attempt to give you a ball park figure. The only way to do it is to have the 4 day PH swiped for the amount it is currently worth and decide whether it is cheaper to make it a 5 day PH, or buy a one day PH.

I think her best bet is to trade in the "value" of her 4 day hopper on a MYW 5 day hopper. I'm thinking she paid at least $200.00 for the 4 day hopper, and with the MYW 5 day hopper being $242.80 inc. tax, I think you're right with the difference being about 40 bucks. If I'm reading the charts right a MYW 1 day hopper is $100.91 inc. taxes, so I doubt she would want to keep the 4 day and purchase a 1 day. :sad2:

You might want to check this. There's another thread out there that suggests that park hoppers can only be used to upgrade to tickets of like kind. In other words, since the old park hoppers have both hopping and never expire features, they may only be used to purchase MYW passes that have hopping and never expire. (This seems different from what we were originally told, but another poster says she tried recently to trade in old hoppers for MYM and was told exactly this.)

A 5-day MYW with hopping and no expire is closer to $280, so it might be more cost effective either (1) to keep the 4 day hoppers and buy a one day ticket for the fifth day, or (2) trade in the 4 day hoppers on some longer term no expire hopper MYW tickets. Option 2 only works if you plan to return. (For example, you could use the value of your 4 day hoppers to purchase 7-day magic your way tickets with no expire and hopping. These cost about $310, so for an extra $30 over the cost of the 5-day MYW never expire hoppers, you get two extra days that never expire -- a value of nearly $200.)

What she is saying is true, so if your DD had a 4 day park hopper, she could only apply its worth when purchased toward a 5 day PH with no expiration date.... You didn't say when the original ticket was purchased... but lets say it was this past year. The 4 day PH was approximately $203, that included tax. So, she has that much sitting in the bank (so to speak). The 5 day MYW ticket base price is $193-- approx $200 when you include the sales tax, then add on $35 for the no expiring option and another $35 dollars for the Park hopping option plus tax. To add one day is going to cost about $70.

I posted that yesterday before we knew the info about only trading in non-expiring for non-expiring. But that's what I love about these boards, ya learn something new every day!!~::yes::~
