Has anyone been able to upgrade once they got to the Boardwalk without being charged the additional points? We checked this a year or so ago and we were told there is no upgrades and no late checkouts for DVC members. I just wondered with the vacancies now, has anyone been able to upgrade. I am booked in a preferred view studio but would love a 1 bedroom. I just wondered if it was possible. I actually have 3 preferred view studios booked and I would love to upgrade at least one of them to a 1 bedroom. Any chance?
What is really amazing is that even with all the folks on the board that are going to Disney next week, I was able to call yesterday as a cash customer and add 2 additional days for a total of 9 days (I had used up all my points with this trip and the other one I had already taken). Actually, we could stay at any of the resorts except those that have closed or are closing. I never remember it being like this in the past.
Also, how many studio rooms have the child size daybed and is it possible to request a room with it. There are 4 of us in a room but it is 2 boys that I am sure would rather not sleep together.

There is no chance of being upgraded when staying on points.

The dedicated studios are called "Studio Plus" and have the day bed. I am not certain how many there are, but I am certain that they will not guarantee one.

You should make a request for one as soon as possible. Requests are filled on a first made priority basis so you should make the request as soon as you can.

While you can make a request for a specific location, room, building etc MS will tell you that there is no guarantees that these requests will be honored.

Room 4031 is a studio plus and has a great Boardwalk view.

I have a difficult enough time dealing with non-DVC members getting better rates WITH housekeeping by paying cash to stay at DVC resorts.

I would be absolutely furious to find out that they were giving free upgrades to DVC members and not charging the extra points!

THAT would be (almost) enough to convince me to sell my contract! :D

We stayed at OKW on year on points in a one-bedroom. We paid a cash night for our first night in a studio to save money (and we didn't have points available to use for that night). They upgraded our night in the studio to a one bedroom and we didn' t have to change rooms. But they only upgraded the room we were paying cash for, not the one we were using points for.

Deb&Bill,
Glad to hear that. It really would not be fair to give away point rooms if you didn't have the points to use.
