:wave2: We are about to go one our 2nd cruise and have an assigned room because we booked with points. Since we are stingy with our points, we always request the smallest, most inside stateroom. :scared:
I am hearing people on our cruise thread say that they are getting upgraded and we are wondering if DVC members can have the same sort of luck.

Has this happened to anyone simply by asking upon arrival at port? Can I say or do anything(sing a Disney song perhaps) that would increase our chances? We are boarding on Feb 12th for a 3 night cruise. THanks DVC friends!

From what I've heard and read it fairly random. We will be on the same cruise and we were upgraded from a cat 8 to 5 but ours is a cash ressie.

It'll be nice to have anonther DVC & Disboard member on board. Good luck on an upgrade.

Hopefully we'll see you on the Wonder.

Congratulations on your upgrade! I know that they hold a certain number of rooms in each category, on each deck for DVC bookings. Do you think the Feb 12th cruise will have a small number of passengers?

Wish me luck!

Although it seems like upgrades are plentiful sometimes, they truly are pretty rare on DCL. Most of their sailings are full occupancy, and if not, they will offer CM's discounted fares close to sail date. That results in very few being upgraded.

You may hear of some who book a category 12, and are upgraded since they tend to overbook and there are not many of those staterooms.

The staterooms available for DVC points bookings are not actually "held" for DVC but are allocated, but can sell out on cash too. They do not save rooms on each deck for DVC.

When you get to the port, if there are rooms still available they will be posted and you can inquire. You would pay a cash price to upgrade there at the port. Be advised that luggage will be delayed since your bags will already be checked with the original stateroom tags on them.

I always advise to book at least the minimum category of room that you will be happy and comfortable in. :)

I've been following the rooms available and it seems like it will be at or near capacity.

Good luck on an upgrade.

Just to make you feel better even the smallest inside room on a Disney cruise is larger than many staterooms on other cruiselines. You won't be in there very much anyway - too much fun stuff to do.

I think all of your positive thinking worked because I just checked my answering machine and we had a call from DVC. A CM said that we had a complementary upgrade from Cat 11 to Cat 8 just for being a DVC member!

Very exciting! :cool1:

Congratulations on your upgrade! Have a great time. I have 18 of us booked on our first Disney Cruise in Nov., so I can't wait.

Enjoy, when we cruised on cash - I had originally snagged a secret porthole room - when we checked in we found out we were upgraded to a balcony - I don't remember what category it was. Only trouble - the balcony was wasted on us - my DS was 5 at the time and I was too nervous with him out there. LOL So we didn't use it.

Have a wonderful time!!!
