I know many people have upgraded their GAD vouchers to regular annual passes. Has anyone upgraded a voucher to a DVC-priced annual pass?
I'm assuming this would need to be done at a ticket window, since when I asked member services about applying the GAD over the phone she said it couldn't be done. Apparently if you already have a ticket, the GAD voucher can only be used for fastpasses.

We're going in September, and I'm trying to beat the increase in ticket prices expected Aug 1, so if I can't upgrade the GAD voucher, I might as well just order the annual passes through member services now.

Thanks for any info you've got!

I called about this a week or so ago, and the cast member told me that what I should do it this: redeem the GAD voucher for the one day ticket, then take that ticket to the guest relations window where they will allow you to use that to upgrade to the DVC AP.

You can definitely upgrade your GAD voucher to a DVC priced AP. We upgraded ours in April to a DVC priced AP renewal. It will all be done in one transaction at guest relations; no 1 day ticket will be issued. Because AP's have an expiration date, the CM can issue it immediately. Have fun!

I have done this 3 times as family member passes were up for renewal this year. They will do it in one transaction, including issuing a one day pass that they then scan and tear up. THis applies the discount to the AP. No problem really but took about 5 mins. so plan a little extra time. It, of course, can only be done at a park, not downtown disney.

Just did this last week - easy as pie!

We went to the MK guest relations booth/ticket booth directly outside the gate and gave them our GAD certificates, our DVC member cards, IDs and a credit card. Look about 7 minutes to issue our cards. Can't remember exact total, but it was about $630 for two regular DVC APs. Can't beat that!

No need to go in park and then upgrade. Don't waste the time!

Cheers,
Josh

Since I haven't used my GAD voucher yet, we're going to DL in December for our annual trip and my APs expire then, I can then use the voucher to just renew my AP (the DVC price and renewal price are the same for DL)? Or maybe I should use mine to get the pin and then get my AP in January, or the next time that we go, so that it's good for a year (we lost a good 3 months last time renewing it in December). Decisions, decisions.

We did the same thing with our GAD and applied it towards our DVC AP renewals. We did our day at the beginning of January and were down at WDW at the end of January so we took care of it then. Even with it being brand new, it only took an extra minute or two. We also got the 15 month renewal so I think our passes were under $300 each for 15 months - woohoo!!

The GAD vouchers have a value of a one day ticket. So if the prices go up, the value of that voucher will go up too. So I have to assume that the difference between the DVC AP and the one day ticket value of the voucher will be relatively the same now as it will be if the prices go up.
