upgrade free dining to deluxe dining?

Just wondering, for possible future reference:

For those with free dining, is it possible to pay to upgrade it to deluxe dining?

I upgraded to the delux with the free dining plan. But I did it when I booked my package, so I don't know if you can now. You would have to phone to be sure.

this was the first year they allowed that. i would assume it will be allowed next year, but we really dont know how the plan will change for next year yet.

I did that too when I booked my package. The best thing about it was it cost me $30 a day for adults and $9 a day for the kids. I character meal a day and it pays for itself. Also I don't have to worry about food at all then, we can eat TS or CS anytime of the day.

I booked my vacation ahead of time, then called the day they released free dining and added that with the deluxe dining option. I'm not sure that they'll let you change your package now though as the free dining promo can't be booked anymore.

On another note, it never hurts to try, the worse thing they can say is no

It was allowed, but I think there was a time limit on it. So people might be saying "yes" but you might hear "no" from them, if the time limit for upgrading is the same as the time limit on booking Free Dining.

It is not a huge deal either way , but I would have liked to have done it, but I am also with in my 30 day range.... I just figured it out and I still will spend less then 420 OOP with my current schedule... So , I am not going to stress about it!

Just call the 407-WDisney number and tell the cast member you would like to upgrade. They will need to work with someone in guest services and then of course you would need to pay the balance too.

I know it can be done cause a girl thats traveling with us cant make up her mind and changed it to deluxe dining but then couldnt pay the rest right then so they changed her back to regular dine and told her it can be changed back to deluxe dining anytime outside of 72 hours of arrival, but she must have the money at the time of the change.

At first the cm said that it couldn't be done, but dh asked if she could verify that. She came back and said said she could do it. We also had too many ADRs we would have had to pay oop for so it was a nobrainer to just upgrade to deluxe. We paid $32/adult and $10/child per night.

Yes, definitely call again. When we were waivering whether to upgrade or not i had asked the cm and she said 72 hours before check in was the latest you could add/upgrade the dinng plan. Good luck and happy eating.

YES! You can upgrade at any time up until 72 hrs before you check-in. I paid off my free basic dining package July 10th and will be calling to upgrage to deluxe towards the end of August. It was easier on my wallet to do it that way.

Yeah, I guess Disney would never deny you giving them MORE money whereas you probably can't downgrade your deluxe package back to a regular FD package past the promotional date.

I am being told now, that I can not upgrade I needed to do it before my final payment which was July 10. They will check with a manager who is apparently not there and call me back if there is any change.. Good Luck to the rest of you!

OK, so now I am waiting for someone to call me back from Guest Services there seems to be some confusion about if I can do this or not and they wanted to talk to whomever they report to!
