First off we like to eat and we have a list of restaurants/snacks we want to try. 2 adults. We have the Free QS DP with our package. These are our plans so far. I'm thinking it might be cost effective to upgrade to the Basic DP. We leave in 18 days. Is it possible to upgrade this close?

QS: 10 QS and 5 snack
Day 1 - no dining plans: use 3 QS credits 7 remaining
Day 2 - B at Ohana and D at Le Cellier: use 1 QS credits 6 remaining
Day 3 - L at Saana and D at Artist Point: use 1 QS credits 5 remaining
Day 4 - B at Be Our Guest: we have the option to use 1 QS credit since BOG is QS for breakfast 4 remaining
Day 5 - D at Be Our Guest: use 2 QS credits 2 remaining
Day 6 - no dining plans: use 1 QS credit 0 remaining

We will have spent all our QS credits if we include breakfast at BOG or have 2 for our last day if we do not use a QS credit for breakfast at BOG. We will be paying for 5 TS meals or 6 if we do not use a QS credit for BOG.

Basic DP: 10 TS, 10 QS, and 1 snack
Day 1 - no dining plans: use 3 QS credits 7 QS remaining and 10 TS remaining
Day 2 - B at Ohana and D at Le Cellier (2 credits): use 1 QS credits 6 QS remaining and 7 TS remaining
Day 3 - L at Saana and D at Artist Point (2 credits): use 1 QS credits 5 QS remaining and 4 TS
Day 4 - B at Be Our Guest: we have the option to use 1 QS credit since BOG is QS for breakfast 4 remaining and 4 TS remaining
Day 5 - D at Be Our Guest: use 2 QS credits 2 QS remaining and 3 TS remaining
Day 6 - no dining plans: use 1 QS credit 0 remaining and 3 TS remaining

We will have spent all our QS credits if we include breakfast at BOG or have 2 for our last day if we do not use a QS credit for breakfast at BOG. We will Have spent 7 TS credits and have 3 remaining on our last day.

Since there will be left over TS credits I'm not sure if this is cost effective but our ADR's will now be covered. What is the cost to upgrade? What would you do?

Also, we are not opposed to making more ADR's to use the remaining TS credits and we have 2 very late MK nights that would allow us to use any QS credits for something other than BLD.

We've had free dining all four visits. It worked out WAY more economical to upgrade from the QS plan to the regular dining plan our first two years.

Having had the regular dining plan the last four trips (two of which we upgraded from QS plan) I can't imagine not upgrading.

Plus, having the regular QS plan, plus still making ADR's for TS meals, would be an immense amount of food.:crazy2:

BTW, I'm not following your numbers. On the QS plan, you get two QS for each nights stay, per person. For the regular dining plan you get one TS credit and one QS credit per nights stay, per person.

With all those TS meals I would upgrade to the regular dining plan. OR.......if you have the free QS dining plan I'm assuming you are staying at a value resort. See what the cost difference would be for you to upgrade your hotel to a moderate resort or upgrade the dining plan. (The moderate resorts usually have the regular dining plan as their free dining option) You may be able to upgrade your hotel and get the upgraded dining plan for what you would just pay for the upgraded dining plan.

Yes, i see now that I incorrectly stated 2 QS and 2 TS credits when it should be 1 and 1.

I'm playing with the calculator now...

I would think that the cost of upgrading might not be much different than moving to a moderate resort. FWIW, if it's available.
