Upgrade At Check-in?

We are staying at the POR in a standard room. My DH and I (just us going) were wondering if anyone ever go upgraded to a King size bed at check-in. Does anyone think that they would have a free upgrade available and has anyone ever scored one? Thanks for all secrets!

We kinda sorta did. We paid for waterview at CBR (same price as king) and then when we arrived, I asked if they had any Kings available. The CM was great and said sure...so we kind of got a free upgrade on top of a paid upgrade =) She did mention that there are very few king rooms in the entire resort (I imagine this applies for all of the mods), but CBR did seem to be really empty while we were there...it was actually a year ago from this coming weekend.

This past July we had a paid res. at the Contemporary Garden Wing. When we arrived we were upgraded to the tower with a Bay Lake View. We did not ask for the upgrade.

We paid for a Savannah View at AKL last year and they upgraded us to a "Deluxe" Savannah View. I think the difference was the deluxe rooms were on the 5th floor and were a bit bigger than the rest. It was nice to be surprised with a little something extra. You just never know what might be waiting for you. I guess it just depends.
POR is a great resort. We were there 2 years ago and paid for a King/Waterview room. I was hoping for a river view. Well, it ended up we got a pool view (which I thought I would hate) and 2 double beds in the AB section. Well much to our surprise it was perfect! I loved having the pool view b/c I could check to see if it was busy and if there were seats available. Worked out great for us. And, the 2 double beds ended up being a great idea too! At the end of our long days we were able to have our own beds with plenty of room to stretch out and completely relax! Whatever you end up I'm sure will be perfect!

The same incident happened to me and my family when we were checking into the All Stars Music - Free Upgrade to a Family Suites.

WoW ! That was a really nice upgrade ! You don't see that dramatic of an upgrade often. My cousins received a really good one too. They booked a studio at Saratoga Springs and got a 1 bedroom which is a bit of a price difference. On our upcoming trip I booked a standard view. I really don't want the water view or a king bed, I'll just be happy to get the building I want. The only upgrade I'd really like is upon check-in they ask me if I'd mind moving to the Poly/Castle view b/c they accidentally over booked POR !
