Upgrade AP or DAH?

I can't believe I made the mistake I made. DH and I bought Gold Passes during our January trip knowing that we would be back in June for 4 days. We have been desperate to get away to some nice weather so we just booked an additional short trip over Easter weekend. We will arrive early on Friday and leave late on Sunday. We have had regular AP's before, and being first time Gold Pass holders I completely forgot about Easter being blocked out! I remembered only after I had my airfare booked and my reservation made. Ugh!

Doing a non-park trip is definitely an option and we would be fine with that knowing we will be back. We have enjoyed non-park trips in the past. However, we are staying at BLT and it will be so tempting to go the MK, especially with the park being open until midnight both nights. I was thrilled that we got into BLT when I thought we could go to the parks. I loved the idea of staying until close and walking back to our room. I know I can upgrade once we get there, but that means I wouldn't be able to make any fastpasses and I know it will be very crowded.

Another option I'm considering is to skip the parks over Easter, but add the HS DAH to our June trip. We will be staying at BWV so it would be very convenient. A bit of a savings, and I could make better use of the fastpasses for the other parks. We haven't done a DAH at any park and HS is DH's favorite.

I don't want to spend the money on both so I'm trying to figure out which would have the greater value. I suppose not doing either is also an option. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

We like to stretch our travel $. I would enjoy the resort, rent bikes at Ft Wilderness, do a water park day, etc., maybe book a resort character meal and/or dinner and skip both. You could also see what is available via cancellations, if you wanted a resort with different pool atmosphere. otherwise, I'd upgrade to include Easter. I see no reason to pay extra for a DAH when I have an AP.

you can renew you Gold pass to the Platinum, just paying the difference $636 vs 517 w/tax $253.47 for both of you. They will expire on the same date you have now, but you don't have black out dates.

We've done the same thing and are going in mid April. The fact that you cannot upgrade your pass over the phone or online is beyond silly. It's easy money, and customer service.

Thanks for the input. I've decided against DAH just because I'm still irked that they have reduced evening EMH so drastically over the years. I think we'll play it by ear and decide once we get there if we feel like upgrading or not. I agree that it's silly of them not to be able to upgrade over the phone and I probably would have done it already if that was an option. Now I'm thinking we might just use this trip to relax and enjoy the parks during our June trip.

I feel your pain. I had just been able to grab 5 days at BRV at the end of April and was pretty excited. I then went to purchase the Gold Pass and luckily saw the black out dates were within the 5 days I had booked. Ugh. Modified the reservation and we are now at SSR in May. But it's ok because also I found 9 days in BWV (my favorite) in September! All's well that end's well.

FYI, if you get a chance to get the BRV back, just buy a 5 days pass and upgrade to the gold on the last day. Covers the black out dates and you get the cost applied to the AP rate.

This is what we are doing. We have 5 day military tickets that we are going to upgrade to gold passes on our last day. We’re going to be there 4/10-18 right smack in the middle of blackout week so we’ll use our tickets then upgrade before we leave the park on the last night.
