Originally, we had two inside cabins booked-one on points and one on cash for our cruise-now, we only need the one DVC cabin and I would like to upgrade... However, I do not have enough points to upgrade to a window and would have to take one person off points and pay cash-but then have left over points that can only be used in the Disney Collection. If I upgrade to a balcony-I'll use most of the points but have to pay quite a bit more in cash... So, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the left over points or is it really worth the extra $$$ to get a balcony? Thanks!!

If I were going on a cruise to alaska, I know I'd want a veranda.
As to the extra points, are you flying via LA? How about a night or 2 at Disneyland?

Can I ask why the verandah is so important for an Alaska cruise-is it for the scenery or is that the only way to get to see anything? We are actually taking my 17 year old on a college tour-so I have been considering a weekend in Disneyland...

Well, for me, I'd want it for the scenery for sure. You could always go up on an open deck to see things, but it's just so nice to be able to step in/out of your own room onto a balcony.

If you are doing the inside passage then a balcony is a real plus as you have constant scenery and animal sightings round the clock. It stays light for most of the night and we found sitting on our balcony with a cup of hot chocolate was the best part of the trip. We went Princess Cruise line and did the mini suite which is probably equivalent to a Disney Balcony cabin.
