Updgades 101...please

OK, what do I need to know about upgrades?

We did the 4 day Wonder 2 years (loved it!) ago but it was a group trip and another family member did the planning.

We've booked the 7 day for April 2004 through DCL. They gave me a room number but nothing in writing.

What is a guaranteed booking? A GTY?

Do I need to take an upgrade if offered? Sounds like some people prefer to keep their original booking.

How do you check ressies online?

If you go to DCL's website and enter your confirmation number you can check your ressie, unless you booked with a group such as DVC then it won't show up. If you were given a cabin number when you booked that is your cabin. A GTY is when you are gaurenteed at least that catagory but will not find out your cabin until closer to sailing. No you do not need to accept an upgrade. They don't happen very often, moreso on the wonder than the magic.

Which 7 day cruise have you booked. WE are on the Magic in April 04 also. We have the Easter cruise April 10th, Western cruise.

What cat did you book at. Sounds like that cat is already filling up and depending on when you booked in the sequence of things you could get an upgrade.

We have a cat 6 for this trip. Family of 4. Me of course, my DW, and DD with her DS. he will be 11 yrs old when we sail.

Your comment about not receiving "anything in writing" caught my attention. Not sure how you booked - if with DCL you should have received confirmation paperwork/payment still due statement within a week to 10 days. If you booked with a TA I would also have insisted on a confirmation showing you were confirmed with DCL.

Might want to check on this....

We are booked for April 10, 2004. First cruise. It will be my husband, me and 2 dd. Ages 11, 9. We are in catagory 11.
