Hi Everyone,

39 more wakeups til we leave for WDW. And thanks to you all my nerves are calm and I am confident this is going to be a wonderful trip in spite of my wheelchair use. I have my noise reductions headset, my wheelchair with higher push handles, my "this magic carpet belongs to..." sign - in plastic held on the chair with metal binder rings, my small pad for my seat, my stroller bag to carry stuff off my chair handles, and my extra large garbage bag with bungee cord to protect my seat from the rain while I am on a ride, a list of all medical rest areas so I can lay down if needed. Oh, yeah, and I am in the process of trying to think of cute saying to put on shirts to poke fun at my condition. You all are super-heros. And I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help.

Any suggestions regarding tshirts for a person with chronic vertigo, I'd love to hear them.

Right now the winner (ds idea), my shirt... are the tea cups still spinning or is that just me////the rest of the families shirts, That's just you Mom/(hun). With a dizzy looking Goofy.

UPDATED
Well, we are back. I just wanted to log in & say thank you so much to everyone. If you are familiar with my issues you know last trip was less than magical. This trip was awesome!!! So thanks for all the suggestions, tips, and of course pixie dust!
The medical areas came in handy. I was extrememly grateful to have a quiet place. We didn't bother with disability shirts. We had family shirts instead. We all dealt with the few comments we heard & passed it off with, "God help it happen to you" attitudes. I walked when I could, even pushing DS who has a bad back on occassion. I stood in line when I could, and took advantaage of GAC when needed. I felt bad for my husband, though he didn't complain once about pushing me. I promised by next trip I will be 50lbs lighter. (glad I didn't bring home any Mickey chocolate covered pretzels, or minnie chocolate mints).
So in short, you all are my families super heroes. Whatever your challenges in life I pray they are mild & you all come out with more good than bad. Thank you again, from all of my family. :grouphug:

How did you get the higher push handles? I know you had talked about them before....

Also, I am going to move this to the general board, since it is WDW related :)

Thank you for moving it to the appropriate thread.

We got a new chair. DH & I aren't very mechanically saavy, especially wheelchairs.

Since my manual chair is not customized, I was having a tough time finding a retailer to do changes to the chair. We went to a local "mom & pop" type medical supply place to see if they could order the handle extensions someone on these boards had suggested. We really just needed to know if they were going to fit, we could have ordered them ourselves, since the wonderful people here even gave us the link, but figured we'd see if maybe we could voucher them to our insurance (even though I knew it was a long shot). The woman at the store suggested we try this new light weight chair because the handles are much higher.(medline brand) So, we got that one. Now we have one that we leave in the car, and my original one at home-I push when I go for a walk locally.(so when the vertigo kicks hard, I can instantly sit).

DH says it is much more comfortable for him to push. I am about as comfortable in the new one as the original. Although the original one has been giving us problems of late.
