There has been a lot of questions and discussion lately about the marina length of stay plans at various resorts. rather than respond to each post ...i thought i would start a new, central thread with a summation of all the info i have obtained through my discussions with a host of marina cast members...hope this helps....

1. These plans are available at VWL and YC marina as well as the Poly. It has also been available at other resorts in the past. But as of now, these 3 resorts are sure bets.

2. The program costs $199 for up to 5 people in a family. The term family is a loose one. Nobody is going to check birth records or make you explain relationships.

3. The 5 people do not have to be staying in the same room.

4. The 5 people do not have to all sign up at the same time. So if you are arriving a few days before company arrives, you can start playing and the others can begin when they arrive. However, you must name the 5 people at the beginning when you first sign up.

5. no swapping family members in and out as company arrive and leave.

6. water mice, pontoon boats, and regular bikes are included. Surrey bikes are NOT included.

7. children not named as one of the 5 CAN ride along as passengers on water mice and pontoon boats. However, they can not drive boats or use a bike (unless they pay separately).

8. the plans are resort specific. so if you sign up at VWL, you can not use it at YC or the POLY.

9. This is a great deal (IMHO) :)

10. It took many calls to come up with this set of rules. information conflicted at first, but recent calls have finally been in agreement on these terms....so i think they are ironing out the kinks and beginning to reach consensus on what the rules are.

One question posed that I keep forgetting to ask.... must you be staying at a specific resort to sign up at that marina? my guess is no, but you do have to be staying on property. I think this because not all resorts have marinas...and marina hopping is already allowed for single use renters. i think you must be staying somewhere on property though...otherwise LOS would be difficult to define. But if someone else calls a marina, be sure to ask about this (i am tired of calling)

If anyone has anything to add, new info, conflicting info, etc.... please do let me know.

early entry may be gone... but this is a neat new program!

Mike, thank you for taking the time to get the info and post it. We are going down at the end of July, and until I mentioned this plan to DH, we were going to spend a nite at AKL in the middle of the trip to save some points. But in discussing it last nite, he seems to be leaning toward staying at VWL for all ten nites so we can take advantage of the marina plan...

Do you know if we could take a boat from WL and go to YC or Poly? Or can you only dock at the resort you start from?

I agree, by the way, it IS a great deal!

Minnie

Mike, just wanted to say another thank you for taking the time to get and post all this info.

Minnieme2,

Bay lake (WL, WLV, FW) connects with Seven Seas Lagoon (Poly, GF, MK), but there is no way to boat from there to YC/BC/BW. Also you can only dock at the resort your renting your boat from. Cast members will not let you tie off even for a potty or pina coloda break. I know, I tried .

Awesome post Mike!

We are completely confused by this whole issue.

We were wanting to stay at the new BCV when they open in July, but decided, with only taking a 10 day pass for a 15 day vacation, we should be taking up the boat/bike pass at our home at VWL to fill our "off" days at the resort.

We have put a few posts on the site with not too many replies and even phoned up member services who said that such a thing did not exist over at the Yacht / Beach Club Marina.

We are now of the opinion that we will still go to BCV and take advantage of Storm Along Bay on our days off, and if the package exists when we arrive, then excellent!

The package definitely exists as I stated at YC marina and VWL marina. At least as of today. As with anything at Disney, the whole thing is subject to cancelation at any moment (a la Early Entry).

But... if you split your vacation between VWL and BCV, the LOS plan at the marina will NOT transfer.

BTW.. i am not suprised membership services does not know about this plan. They try their best to know about everything in the world, but that is a difficult task with all there is on site. If you call YC and ask to be transfered to the marina, they will verify the information for you.

We've done the different plans a couple of times & we now choose WL as our marina to rent from. Bay lake is excellent to boat across & biking to FW is great... To answer a question that was asked, NO you do not need to be staying at the hotel that has the marina you choose... This is not specific to DVC members by the way, it is available to the general public... I know we talked about this over on the Resort board & apparently CBR also has a LOS plan as well...

thanks for the added information!

Thank You for your hard work and getting this information. However, 1 more question.

Is this for DVC members only ? or anyone ?

I agree this sounds like a great deal, as our family spends less time atacking the parks then most. Sorry to ask another question, but I thought you might know.

DVCdave...

This plan is available for anyone staying on property! Not just DVC members.

How long per day do you get use? Is it one mouse per party per day or can a family have several mice? Can you do bikes and mice on the same day?

Do you have to sign up early for your turn? What if alot of people do this, is there enough equpment?

Thanks Tigger

In addition to Tigger's questions, I have to add one more. Can you sign up in advance for this package, or do you have to wait until after check-in?

So much for answering so many of my questions about this program. I have always watched the water mice, and they look like tons of fun. But I haven't wanted to pay the big bucks for rental. For a length of stay, I think it is a pretty great deal...I have one more question to add...does it include bikes as well?

I telephoned the BC today (407-934-7000) and obtained some additional and different info. I was told by Jennifer at the Marina the following

- The passes are only good for a family of 4 not 5
- There is also a Captains pass - cost $115 - which allows your party of 4 up to 4 hours use of the boats
- There are no bikes at the BC and they are not included in either pass
- The water mice, pontoon boats and the canopy boats are included.

She seemed a little uncertain about whether people not in the group can ride with a person with a pass. Sounds like they are still learning the rules themselves but still sounds like a great deal if you use the boats more then once. The people at WDW info had no idea what I was talking about when I called.

We used the LOS plan at the Poly last month. MY husband and son used the mice most days, somedays for an hour. My daughter went out once and we used a pontoon boat once, too.
He signed up at the marina on the day after we arrived...it was too late by the time we arrived the first night. I don't believe the tandem bikes were included at the Poly.
