Leaving for a road trip to Disney World on Friday I was looking for an “updated “ Gas Calculator gas buddy and AAA are outdated and they don’t even have 2019 choices I’m driving from Chicago O’Hare area in a 2019 Hyundai Tucson

What are you trying to calculate?

How much gas you're going to use?
Google maps to get you how many miles from your house to your destination.
Divide the number of miles by the mpg you average. That gives you gallons.

How much gas will cost you?
Do the above, then take the number of gallons you've estimated and multiply it by $2.75 (gas around here ranges from $2.35 -$2.65, using $2.75 will give you a little cushion).

Don't know what you're average mpg is? Sorry, that's on you. I always do the math when I fill up. If you haven't, a quick google search shows you 23 city/30 highway. I would use 25mpg for calculations, then modify that as I do the math at fill up.

How to calculate mpg?
Fill up the tank. Reset your trip odometer. The next time you fill up the tank, divide the number of miles on the trip odometer by the number of gallons you've put in. Many new cars will actually have a screen showing your current mpg and your average mpg.

On the last 2 Hondas I've owned, I've found the mpg displayed to be inflated by 1 or 2 mpg over what I've calculated.

If you want a little more accurate pricing go to the gas buddy site and plan out your gas stops and see what the average is in that area.

Also if you have a Costco membership see if you can plan gas stops and routes to go by the stores (without going way out of your way).

To clarify: what is the range on your vehicle, drag and drop on Google maps to create trip segments, look at the end of each segment to find gas price and multiply by a tank fill up

If it were me though I would take the trip distance, divide by the MPG, and then multiply by $3.00 to over budget.

Recently -- at least here in Miami -- I've noticed that Costco gas prices have not been as competitive as they have been in the past.

For a long time, regular gas at our Costco was 14-15 cents per gallon cheaper than nearby stations...AND, of course, we get 4% cashback. But for the last month or two, Costco has only been about 5 cents per gallon cheaper. At busy times, it's just not worth the 15-20 minute wait or a 3 mile drive, and I get the 4% anywhere.

When you need Gas ... you need Gas ........ so why worry over a few $ .

You are spending Many times of that on your Disney vacation .... So Fill up when needed
