Note: I just updated both spreadsheets!

If you find any big mistakes please let me know! You may have to refresh your browser to see the right version. They should say "April 2007" at the top of the first page.

Hi all! I just did two spreadsheets for my own family's use. My sister can't read Excel, so I converted them to HTML and posted them on my ISP. I hope you like them!

Ever wonder which restaurants are 1 Credit? Which are 2? This page will help you ...
All Disney Restaurants By Credit Type:
http://personalpages.tds.net/~rb/DIS/MYW%20Dining/MYWDiningRestaurants.htm

Do you want to know which restaurant is the best "Bang" for your credit "Buck"? This page will help you ...

The second page is from a spreadsheet originally created by Mouse Eared Kiwi. She did 95% of all the leg work looking up the prices, etc. I did a little more research and massaged the data and put it in a different format.

Restaurants Ranked By Value Per Credit

Note: click on "Ranking" tab to see analysis.

Those are really great Robin! Now I just have to keep telling myself to keep focused on where I want to eat, rather than getting the biggest bang for my buck!

Very Nice. Now why can't they just put something like that on their site?

Kae

If you add tax and tip, you're saving even more on each one. For example, BOMA is down at 24.99, but by the time you pay tax and a 15-20% tip, it's closer to 35 bucks per person. :)

Yup! Your savings does include tax and tip :). I left it out of my ranking calculations since tax and tip are the same at all Table service restaurants.

Great site! The dining plan is a whole new world to me since we've always stayed on DVC points.

One question, is the Plaza Restaurant really considered counter service??? What a great option if that is so!

Not to knock all the hard work that Robin did....but the first part is located on Disney's site.

Disney Dining

The second part however is a great asset for those who are looking to maximize their "free" dining dollar! :)

Thats great it shows how mush you can save, and for those with a split stay, part on diing part not, it heps to make sure you make the most of the plan.

This had to be an incredible amount of work! I was concerned that it used the most expensive item in each category, instead of mitigating that with some lesser expensive items, to better represent what a typical person would actually order. So I decided to try to add into it an average of the most expensive three items in each category. I couldn't believe how long it took me to get just 5% through the TS restaurants! (That's where I gave up.)

Just imagine how much it would take to keep just Robin's spreadsheet updated with the daily and weekly menu changes! :faint:

The Plaza Restaurant is table service, not counter service (purple not peach, in the chart on the Disney website).

Thanks everyone, I put the Plaza Restaurant in the correct place.

Disney845: I cut and pasted from the document that you linked to. I found it to be a little confusing since it was in alphabetical order in each park/resort mixing up the counter service and the table service. Plus, my mom is still on WebTV :lmao:(sorry Webbies!) and the straight HTML format works for her while PDFs do not.

I also want to stress that Mouse Eared Kiwi did the vast majority of the work :worship:. I just moved things around and generated the pivot tables. And no, neither one of us plans on keeping it up to date :teeth:.

bicker: I think I might take the top 5 or 10 in each category and average the costs and see if that makes a difference in the rankings.

Thank you so much for this! Last time I went I was on the Premium Plan so everywhere was included...this time I'm doing the dining plan and have more table service meals than I have credits for, I was trying to decide which ones to pay out of pocket, this will help tremendously.

I made a couple interesting changes. First of all, I added the DTD restaurants (subject to the restricttions that I knew of) and they took over the top ten!

Secondly, I took the top 25 table restaurants and top 10 couter service restaurants by maximum price and calculated the average prices for those places. I had a spreadsheet to help me, but there was still a lot of cutting and pasteing!

Take another look ... there was some interesting movement (up and down) on some restaurants.

Robin,

I've enjoyed your breakdowns. They have confirmed most of our dining plans. One thing, I notice that HDDR is listed above 'Ohana and Boma. I think maybe this doesn't represent the actual cost since HDDR includes tax and tip. I belive most of your calculations do not include the tax and tip.
Just one minor detail, but one I've been considering. :sunny:

Thanks Toots :). I added tax and tip back into the spreadsheet. It didn't change the position of the top restaurants and it reflected the true "value" of each restaurant. BUT ... I did forget to leave the tax and tip off the dinner shows where they are included. Fix one thing and break another, LOL!

The price comparisons are a nice reference. The side with the averages is a lot more important IMO than the high figure, since I order what I like and not necessarily what costs the most.

I only spot-checked one restaurant on the left side because I recently ate there and $57 looked very low to me considering some of their prices.

Based on the All-Ears menu (which is actually a little outdated and the prices are slightly lower than they are now), I come up with the following:

appetizer - $10
entree - $30.50
dessert - $8
soft drink - $2.50
tax - $3 (approx. 6% was a guess)
tip - $10 (approx. 18%)

TOTAL - approx. $64

Not really a significant amount, but it would change the ranking from #7 to either #2 or #3.

Please don't think I'm trying to knock this at all because I can see you put a ton of work into and and as far as I'm concerned being off by a few dollars in one direction or another doesn't really matter. I know some people are out to just hit the most expensive places though, and the numbers here are so close that in most cases it's more of a toss up than an actual ranking.

If you click on the tabs at the bottom of the page you will be able to see exactly what dishes were used in each calculation by the original spreadsheet creator "Carys, the Mouse Eared Kiwi". Some dishes no longer exist. Some prices have changed. In addition, "Carys, the Mouse Eared Kiwi" used Deb Wills' web site to find the prices, but she still had to make a lot of assumptions when she did the original spreadsheet. If there was no drink price mentioned, she assumed $1.50. If she couldn't find a dessert option, she assumed $5. She also assumed a tax rate of 6.5% and a 15% tip. These assumptions were mentioned on the "Credits" tab. The difference between your $2.50 drink and her $1.50 drink, her $5 dessert and your $8 dessert and your 18% tip and her 15% tip seems to be our margin of error :).

FWIW, I enjoyed the dining plan last year. I found myself ordering from the more expensive items on the menu. Then again, I usually choose a nice steak or piece of fish over the less expensive items. I think it was the appetizers that were the real treat for us :).

Thankyou for sharing that Robinb! :thumbsup2

I just printed a copy to keep in my Disney folder.
I've been doing alot of my planning on the go, as I sit at soccer practice and games :teeth:

What is the Breakfast Beach Club Buffet that is listed as a counter service at the Beach Club on the html page? We are staying there the end of August and I hadn't seen this before.

It's a mistake. Sorry to get your hopes up :(. It belongs with "Cape May" over in the 1 Credit restaurants.
