Update with pics of my new puppy

If everything goes well I will be the proud ownder of a new chocolate lab tomorrow night. IF you followed my previous thread my husband brought home a black lab that was 8 months old without telling me and no warning, I had had a bad experience with a previous dog to that biting one of my children so I kind of freaked out. Well this black lab dexter has been so great and such a perfect addition to our family. I love him so much I can't even tell you. He is so good with the kids. So I thought I would add to him a friend. I can't wait. Please wish us luck. I am so excited.

imo it takes a special person to be a dog lover!! my mil treats her dog like a king and tells my dh to "be nice to his brother" it's too funny...

he is a dog like on Frasier, and he has an underbite...kinda freaky looking actually...like he is always snarling or something....

anyway your pup is CUTE as can be!!

Yes we have picked out a name. I can't believe I forgot to tell you. We are not very original around here and are going to call him Hershey LOL!!! I can't wait to get my puppy boy I will post pics of both my handsome boys together if I can get them to stay together long enought to snap a picture.

I looked at PupCity, but I didn't trust the breeders there for a Standard Poodle. Poodles can be high strung with lots of medical problems and I didn't want a back-yard breeder. Plus, everytime I found a breeder that I thought I would like, they also sold cross-breeds (like Labradoodles). Yuck. I am sure they are nice dogs, but I can't trust a breeder who tries to "cash in" on a craze.

Do you have a name yet? My DD has our dog's name picked out already and we don't even have it yet! ETA: "Hershey" ... great name! He's sweet as candy .

Your new puppy is cute, but I must admit, your black lab will be hard to beat as far as looks. I always get a lump in my throat when I see your sig pic...Dexter reminds me of my dear Toby who passed away in November

I cannot bring myself to get another dog..I feel like I am replacing him, which I will never do.

But black labs melt my heart. Your Hershey ain't too shabby either

awww i love a lab, well i love all dogs really.
i do have to say that dexter is adorable, though i am partial, as we also have a male black lab named tahoe. he is 110lbs but, only thinks he is as big as his head, and only weighs 12 lbs. he makes the biggest lap dog ever.

My neighbor in Kansas City, has a a chocolate lab name Stover (as in Russel). He is a great dog.

Congrats on the new puppy! Lots of work and a ton of love! Dexter is so lucky to be getting a playmate. We have a yellow lab mix and he is the most awesome dog I ever owned. I'll never own any other breed after our Bentley.
