Update Tokyo Disney not destroyed this is a correction

Under license. The Oriental Land Company is the primary owner/operator.

The other international locations are partially owned by Disney, although I don't believe in any of them they own more than 50%.

Much less risk for the Company. :thumbsup2

Unless the parks turn into a disaster and look bad for the Disney name... :sad2: Which is why they do mantain a fair amount of ownership in the rest. As for TDR, they are generally considered the best of all the parks, so it isn't much of a worry :)

I'm quite sure Disney has lots of feet on the ground making sure everything is run the Disney way. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

If you were reading my post the right way you did see at the end it said according to reports .Sorry I am human and not paid to be a reporter.I ran with this story without waiting for more info I am sorry and regret this quick reporting without 100 percent confirmation.

Not sure if this has been posted but TDL is closed indefinatlty not at all due to damage but due mainly to lack of power.

why do you always link to that site? is it your site and you're trying to drive up page views?

the only thing of interest on that page is the link to the official site...

http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/en/index.html OR the picture. Either of which you could have posted directly here rather than directing us to another.

Standard netiquette on such things should include a link to at least one of the "reports".

Can you please go to your first post, click edit, then "Go Advanced", and you can edit the title.

Nope not my site but its where I read it so that's where the credit goes. Next time I give you a work cited page in MLA or APA format I'll let you pick.

Wow crediting the place where you actually read something this is a hard concept:rolleyes:

This should have been done days ago.

Reporter or "human," if you had done even the SLIGHTEST bit of fact-checking you would see this is not true. I've seen no credible reports that TDL was destroyed. None. You would have found the same if you had looked.

I did look and was told by someone who did the research that it was destroyed so someone else did bad reporting and I just posted it here so get over it already. I made my statement and once again I don't make money being a tv/radio talk host so I could care less what you think .

I believe that. You clearly don't care what others think.

:(

each day the situation seems to get worse.

Apparently there has been another explosion at the nuke plant over night (reactor 2 this time?) and a fire at reactor 4. The explosion was big and apparently radiation outside the plant is very high now.

Why does that affect disney? because apparently the wind has turned and may be blowing the radiation towards tokyo - where higher than normal radiation has already been confirmed before this latest explosion.

Its such a desperate and sad situation. So many are being told to evacuate but cant because there is no fuel for their cars and trains etc are still badly affected.

Unsurprisingly, many of the american CM's at TDL want to leave for good, so even when the situation begins to improve, Disney may not have enough CMs to operate the parks.

Tokyo Disney is JUST FINE..... minor flooding and minor damage.... people were trapped in the parks though since the trains were not running and the minor flooding was apparently in many of the low lying parking lot areas....

The following link has details and pictures...so this is NOT my opinion but is rather FACT......

Thanks for sharing. I have much respect for the Japanese culture. When I had made accommodations (for a conference in Hawaii) for several scientists from across the U.S. and including a scientist from Japan, I also made arrangements for their families who extended their stay after the conferences were held. The scientist and his wife, from Japan, brought me a small gift to offer their thanks and appreciation, and wanted to meet me personally. The Japanese are proud and grateful people. When Diane Sawyer went to Japan after the earthquake, a family offered her food, despite the food shortage the Japanese have been enduring. In addition, you don't see the looting in the streets like what took place in New Orleans and Haiti. Although no country is perfect, we could learn a lot from the Japanese culture.

It's approximately 120 miles (as the crow flies) from the melting down nuclear plants to Disneyland Tokyo. It's located roughly south from the nuclear plants (180 degree azimuth would be due south--DLT is at about 200 degrees).

As of today, Japanese officials have set the evacuation zone at 12 miles. However, U.S. officials have just challenged that assessment, and have advised U.S. civilians and military personnel to stay at least 50 miles away. The UK has just advised its citizens to leave Tokyo and all locations to its north.

In very basic terms, the U.S. advised evacuation zone reaches nearly halfway to DLT.

I believe someone with the IAEA basically said that if there was a similar situation in the U.S., they would advise a much larger evacuation zone.

It does, unfortunately seem to be getting worse at the reactors. They are currently using helicopters to water-bomb one of the reactors in an attempt to keep it cool. Spent fuel ponds, where they keep used fuel rods while awaiting more permanent storage, are now heating up due to lack of cooling and in one case may have resulted in a hydrogen explosion.

But using the helicopters seems to be like putting out a camp fire with a spray bottle.
