Update Tokyo Disney not destroyed this is a correction

I think the major issue I see is that every picture I see of TDL has tons of people sitting around and I'm not sure how they are going to get home.

Their cars maybe flooded and the trains are not running.

Is Disney going to setup some sort of refuge camp. :confused3

Nope Park has been evacutated and no major structural damage has been reported.

latest seems to be that the parks have NOT been evacuated, but guests have been allowed to leave if they have somewhere to go (ie hotel guests). Day guests and those staying at hotels further away are still stranded in the parks due to the carpark collapsing (apparently) and trains not running.

The following link says there may still be 30000 in one of the parks...

Sorry parts of the park were evacuated but they are still filled but again no major structural damage.

There has been a 6.9 earthquake in Nagano:sad1:

I think the confusion was that the attractions and buildings were evacuated and everyone went outside, but mostly stayed in the parks

Lovesmickeyshouse who reported this false report must be the White House press secretary. :rotfl:

The following is an excerpt from a message to Disney employees from Bob Iger on the Disney Cast Member (the HUB) website:

"Most of our businesses throughout the Pacific have reported no significant damages or injuries. Our team at the Tokyo Disney Resort has reported minimal damage to the park, and is working hard to provide safe shelter to the guests who are staying there overnight due to damage and gridlock affecting the local transportation systems. We will continue to provide food, water and shelter to those in our care as long as necessary."

rumours today that some people will be spending a 2nd night in the park, and that the parks currently wont open again until the 21st.

However, with more tsunami alerts today and the potential immenent meltdown of at least one nuke plant who knows whats going to happen over the next few days :sad1:

IMHO TDR will be fine....and will be a vital part of bringing in tourists' $$$$ to the Japanese economy when things get to that point.... and from what I saw on the posts, videos, news, etc...Japan's economy will desperately need all the help it can get... :(

I can't believe people didn't know about DismeyLand in Tokyo until now.

I can believe it, since it's not owned by the Walt Disney Company, they don't want to advertise it very much, especially seeing as how much nicer those parks are than the ones here in many ways. :rolleyes1

How can iT bear the Disney name if it's nit owned by Disney?

Under license. The Oriental Land Company is the primary owner/operator.

The other international locations are partially owned by Disney, although I don't believe in any of them they own more than 50%.
