Update to sad end to All Star Sports Vacation

I had followed the other thread and am relieved that this turned out well. I certainly learned a lesson too and will no longer use cash for any transactions at WDW or elsewhere on vacation. I too feel you weren't treated in the best manner or given any reassurance along the way that the incident would be investigated. It seemed more like a "he said/she said" situation that could have gone the other way. Here's to a happy ending!---Kathy

Thanks for posting the final outcome. So happy that it all worked out.

glad it worked okay for you.

but still write to Disney. They should know that the guest service manager did not contact the hotel manager. this should have done. It just says that the guest service manager did not believe you or it does to me.

I would still write to Disney.

He believed his employee over you. both the guest service manager and this employee need to be retrained.

Be sure to tell Disney the time frame.

Can someone post a link to the original thread? I have tried searching for it but it couldn't find it. I am interested in what happened.

Whew! Nice to know the people you met at Sports were incompetent rather than dishonest. :thumbsup2

Hmmm... I suppose so. If they had been dishonest, maybe there's a chance they would have been dismissed. Unfortunately when it comes to incompetence, no such luck. One of them, it seems, had actually been promoted to a manager. The "Peter Principle" strikes again.

I am so glad you posted a follow-up to this issue.

I use to work over/shorts at a dept store and sometimes it would take us weeks to figure out the exact nature of the overage/shortage (lots of other oopsies on a cash drawer can make it very difficult to pinpoint the main oopsie.) Now if that original cm you spoke with had only told the accounting person who takes care of that drawer right away...if they were like me I would have chosen to clear up this one right away as it would have been an easy match. At least it is all taken care of now.

Happy summer!

I'm glad that you got it all worked out. I'm curious though..was it your bank card that they withdrew the money? I'm asking because the only credit card that I have is my bank card/master card and I wouldn't be able to float 500 bucks like that without bouncing checks, I'll probably not put that card down for charging priv. but you said that you didn't have charging priv. and they charged it anyhow so that concerns me.

Anyhow glad that you got it all worked out in the end. Thanks for letting us know.

I was wondering the same thing. I read the OPs thread about a week ago and was telling DH about it. DH is a fan of having charging privileges on the room key for the sake of convenience but after reading this I'm a little nervous about that.
We would most likely link our Visa Check card and I can't afford to have any problems at the bank if there is a mistake made by a CM :sad2:

has anyone else heard of anyone having problems like the ones OP described?

I'm so glad they got it straightened out!

My DH works in the accounting dept. of a small bank and he's the one who has to figure out overages and shortages. He finds them right away since it's a small bank but I guess Disney is so big that it would take a while. I'm so glad you got it back.

In my opinion both the employee and the guest services manager should be looking for new jobs, not being promoted. What do I know, I am an accountant not hotel management!!

I understand why the accounting office had the overage for two weeks before finding out where it belonged.

I am so happy it worked out.

I wouldn't link a check card to your room.. a credit card is a different story, they do not actually have your cash yet. A check card, they do! My DD had some problems with American Eagle online with an order and they kept taking money out of her checking account..she had to wait several weeks for them to "fix" the problem before refunding her money back to her checking account, where as if she had used a credit card, it may have been refunded back before her payment was due. Think twice before using a check card or debit for something .. credit cards are much safer. You can always pay your bill off in full and not be charged any interest... just a way to protect your money :thumbsup2

They should have known that night when they cashed out that draw they were over.. banks are just as large and they know ... each teller (as in each CM) is responsible for cashing out... the mistake was made by one CM and it should have been caught by the end of that night but was not. There were a bunch of careless mistakes made....
