Updated in post #30. :goodvibes

Hello everyone,

I am trying to plan a last minute Disney vacation for the weekend of Feb. 8. The CM told me that all rooms, except for concierge-level Yacht Club 2 bedroom villas (waaaay too rich for my blood) are sold out, both with the FL resident discount code and without. My dilemna is that my mom received some devestating news this week that despite being on her 3rd kind of chemo, her cancer has grown and spread. She has been taken off of chemo and told to live out the rest of her life to the fullest. Now you can see my sense of urgency.

Does anyone know what I can do to get a room? I actually need 2 rooms, as there will be 6 of us altogether. I even tried calling Shades of Green (DH is military) and not only are they booked solid, but the only thing they have for overflow is the Beach Club at $325/night. That's still more money than we can really spend at this time. I was hoping to stay in a moderate, but will gladly take a value if I have to.

*Edited to add that we really, really would like to stay on property to get that feeling of being on vacation & using their transportation (we live within driving distance of Disney.)*

Thanks so much for any tips you can provide me with!

Try VRBO.com. (Vacation rentals by owner.) I know you want to stay on site, but off site can be just as convenient. We stayed in a rental home only 15 minutes from AK. After time spent at the parks it is so nice to come home to your own home and have your own private pool. You get such a nice quiet night's sleep too.

I know people will talk about the convenience of Disney transportation, but we liked just hoping in our care and leaving a park when we were ready, versus waiting for Disney transportation.

Also try the allears web site. They have lots of relationships with area hotels, and I'm sure you already tried Swan and Dolphin.

Thanks Jill! I actually live only an hour from Disney, so we really wanted to stay on property to use their transportation and get the feeling of being on vacation (otherwise, we could just do day trips and drive home in the evenings and back in the mornings, KWIM?) I really, really appreciate your reply though! :flower3:

Did you try Swan and Dolphin?

The best thing to do is call, call , call several times a day for openings, you never know you could luck out!

You said weekend, maybe if you add a day on either side something might open up, then you could drop the extra days.

God Bless you and your family, my prayers are with all of you esp. your mom.

Hope you find a way to have a magical trip!

Have you tried travelocity? I have occassionally had luck getting rooms at the last minute with them.

Good luck and God Bless your family.

Part of the reason you are having such an issue is due to Daytona 500. I'll be praying for your Mom and that you find a room.

Might try the DVC rental board. Possible that the DVC resorts might have some openings...

You may have already tried this - but .... try booking for a period of time much longer than you actually want to stay - the later cancel the days you don't want......It has worked for me in the past!!

My prayers to you and your Mom!!!

By calling the Disney res number you can also book Good Neighbor Hotels through them. The hotel is no longer called the Grosvenor, (now Regal SUn Resort) but there is that and the other DTD hotels you could try.
I agree I would try Expedia.
The Disney line can book GNH at AAA rates too.
Good luck, and we will be wishing the best for you and yours! :grouphug:

I just checked AAA.com and they are showing availability at some of the moderates. I plugged in the dates of checking in February 8 and checking out on February 11. Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach Resort are coming up at $119 per night. Check it out. Even if you don't have a membership it would be cheaper to get one than pay those expensive rates you were quoted.
Good luck!!
I hope it all works out for you and your family!:goodvibes

You are already in the penalty period and if a member is going to cancel they would have already done so.

Why do crowded this time of year? The Daytona 500 should not pack WDW like a summer month! I was at WDW last year the first week of Feb. and it was very nice. Very low crowds.

Do you have AAA? There were several hotels available for this weekend when I checked this am.
