I bought an AP that I am planning on activating during our October trip. We also want to go to the HP on 10/23. I have been worried I will not get the AP advance purchase time/price since it is not activated. I also was not sure if they would offer other discounts to Disney Visa holders (which we have) or DVC members.
I decided to call Disneyland's AP line to get some answers, if possible, to these questions...
I spoke with a very nice CM, named Kristin. I asked about purchasing at the AP rate on the 9th with my pass not being activated. She seemed to think I would be able to do this on the 9th even with the pass not being activated. I also asked her about the Disney Visa, and if a discount will be offered with them when the tickets go on sale to the general public. Kristin told me that if I have a Disney Visa card, I could purchase the tickets NOW at the AP advance purchase rates. She said they have been available for purchase for a few days. I also inquired about DVC members, and she said they get the same deal as Disney Visa members....
This made my day! :wizard:
As soon as I get home and have my Visa #, I am buying HP tickets.

Just called the AP line again and purchased 3 HP tickets for 10/23. They are sending them and waived the $5 fee to mail. I should get them in 7-10 days.

I asked the CM that helped me (I didn't understand her name), told me that unactivated AP holders will be able to participate in the pre sale beginning 7/9.

I saw your update about this in the other threads and hadn't had a chance to comment yet.

Wow - it's a good thing you checked on this and decided to ask questions! Not that waiting until July 9th would have been soooo terribly far away, but the information that Disney gave us this past Monday said nothing about tickets being on sale for anyone now - Disney Visa people, DVC or otherwise. They made it sound as though July 9th was the only advance sale date. (They need to find a better way to put together their information when they release it - it's confusing and it doesn't paint the complete picture!:rotfl:)

I'm sure a lot of people would want to get their tickets now, if at all possible, but were waiting until July 9th to do it.

Am I understanding correctly that it's only the DVC and Disney Visa people who can buy discounted tickets right now? Do all of the AP people (activated or not yet activated) still have to wait until July 9th, or did I misunderstand that?

Anyway, thank you for the news - it will be very helpful to the Visa/DVC folks!

There was zero mention of any discount or purchase date for DV or DVC members. I figured their discount may be announced later on. The ticket sales breakdown like this. Feel free to copy to the Halloween Party 2012 board...

Sale Date - TP=ticket price
June 25 - AP TP -Disney Visa and DVC
July 9 - AP TP - AP holders (including non-activated)
July 16 - TP - General Public

When I called an hour or so ago, I was told they were not selling to AP holders until the 9th. So that led me to believe this was only for Disney Visa & DVC members.

I just purchased 6 tickets for 9/28.

I have the regular (not premier) Disney Visa card. I called the 714-781-7277 (AP line) and didn't have any problems. When they said it was $5 for shipping I mentioned that I heard of someone getting this fee waived. She placed me on hold and asked her supervisor and the answer was still no on waiving the fee.

I was given the $46 dollar rate also.

thanks so much for finding this information.

Just wanted to say thank you for the info and add another confirmation that Disney visa holders are able to purchase MHP tickets by calling number mentioned in previous post. CM I talked to was unaware but after being put on hold for several minutes said that we could purchase tickets at $46 rate right now. We were given option of mailing or picking up at gate.

The must waive the $5 shipping fee for Premier card holders then.

Op: Thank you for doing this and posting. We are in the same situation with AP getting first activated in Oct. and was wondering how we were going to be able to get HP tix since we just have vouchers. Thx for the Disney magic!!

Right now, the only way to preorder is to call, right?

Will be able to order online via the AP section of the Disneyland website on the 9th? And just to confirm only those 3+ need a ticket to attended? (meaning my 1 yr old does not).

If your AP is active already, you can purchase the tickets online on the 9th. If the AP has not been activated, call 714 781-PASS. They will mail you the tickets and may incur the $5 shipping fee. Online, I believe you get an e-ticket.
Hope that helps.

Ordered tickets this morning, mailing tickets, no shipping charge.

Well, kind of a Good News, Bad News for me. . .

Being a Disney Visa Card holder, I was able to order my HP tickets today.

Because the date we are attending - 25OCT - no discounts are offered. :sad1:

Curious - For us, this trip will be myself (WDW-Diva, 1st time DL), DS13, and possibly DD-college student. IF she can go, that last weekend in OCT is her only possibility. I fear that HP date will sell out before she knows for sure she'll be able to go (mid-SEP), so I bought her HP ticket today with mine. If she can't make it, can I re-sell that extra party ticket (face value is all I would ask)?

momsquad -

Well, to be honest, I'm sure it happens a lot - with MHP tickets and regular Disneyland tickets - where someone buys a ticket/Hopper, realizes they cannot go and then has to get rid of the ticket, and they end up selling it.

However, any tickets for the parks are not supposed to be for resale. We also don't allow any posts about selling things on The DIS.

So, while I would say that people probably sell tickets behind the scenes when their plans go off course, according to Disney that sort of thing is not supposed to happen so we can't advocate it here on this board.

You might be better off just giving the MHP ticket away, for free, if it turns out DD cannot go - but that is even technically forbidden, as DLR tickets are also supposed to be non-transferable.

Sherry, not going to get into the selling the ticket thing, but as far as giving away, I would like to point out this quote from Disney's official ticket buying FAQ:

"Can I order and pay for the Disney's eTickets on my credit card and give them to another guest as a gift?
Yes. However, your tickets become active as soon as you purchase them. The Disneyland Resort is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets so please treat them like you would treat any other ticket."

The key to the non-transferability of Disney tickets is whether they have been used or not. You can certainly buy a ticket and give it away to whoever you want as a gift so long as it has not been used for entry prior to being given away.

To the poster who wanted to know about what to do with a leftover ticket, occasionally Disney will sprinkle a little pixie dust and help out with a situation like this. If you get to the point of knowing that your daughter will not be able to go, contact Disney immediately and see if they would be willing to issue a refund. The tickets are officially non-returnable, and most people have found that Disney holds the line on this. There are occasional exceptions though, so if you haven't come up with any other solution, it never hurts to ask.

Thank you Sherry for the info. I did suspect this. One of those things you want to ask to make sure though.
Honestly, I'm not one to push any rules. Just going to do all I can to make sure DD is able to enjoy the trip! Then I'll simply feel great for getting the ticket early!!
