DH's company is doing an odd gift exchange this year at his office. Of course, he needs it tomorrow...

Since I am already going to be out, he asked me to pick up the gift.

Whatever it is, needs to weigh 1 pound.

The office is about 12 people, 4 are female, 8 are male.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

What about a pound of apples or nuts or something like that? Or, find a one pound rock and tie a gift certificate to it with Christmas ribbon?

I think they weigh more than a pound... those suckers are dense! ;)

I'd go with candy myself...ETA: how bout a gift card along with a pound bag of M&M's?

Hey, hey some of us like fruit cake.

I am sure you got something by now, but just wanna say CHOCOLATE

Ok, I've finished my holiday baking but ....

a pound of butter, a pound of powdered sugar. I'd be walking the grocery store aisles and checking out the lables looking for 16 oz of anything.
Cool idea. Let us know what everyone brings.

I'd open the bag & eat a few of those M & Ms just to cover the weight of the gift card, those things can get heavy! :rotfl: Just following the rules! :teeth:

I went in a totally different direction, i.e. the home improvement store, and got a 16 oz. claw hammer.

While chocolate and coffee would definitely be the gifts to give ME, this wasn't about me, so I went with a "guy thing."

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll post tomorrow what the other people came up with!

Or the new 21st century version I just saw at our bakery.....

FRUIT ROCKS

They looked like blobs of red velvet cake with lots of lumps and covered in a glaze like on donuts... :confused3 The clerk told me they even have the candied fruit and nuts in them.

not sure what the exchange rate is, but could you give the cash equal to a pound in england?

The gift exchange was at lunch today.

DH recieved 1 pound of clothespins, different sizes from really tiny ones to normal sized ones. The cool part about this is, our clothespin supply has dwindled down to almost none over the last several years. So, both DH and I are pretty excited about this. And, wherever this giftgiver got the clothes pins, there are several teeny tiny ones, just for a joke---and that size is perfect for little embelleshments on cards (as I am a stamper and make most of the cards we send out).

The person that received the hammer was pretty excited, she is fairly recently divorced, and needed one, as her ex took the tools.

Other gifts that were given were:
- a pound of oregano
-a 1# brownie mix
-a 1# of coffee - a variety pack

I can't think of any others that DH mentioned.

Are you sure it was oregano and not "oregano"?

Just thinking of a recent "That 70's Show" episode. All the kids were going up to Jackie's parent's cabin and Mrs. Foreman looked into the car and asked Eric why they were taking so much oregano.

Eric told her it was because Donna is Italian. :rotfl2:

There was an inference in the gift giving exchange to this episode!
