(Update post #1-- problem solved!) Oh no! Skirt from Cherry Tree Lane still has security tag!

How useful is a security tag if the skirt got out of the store without it beeping at a screening spot? Why do they even use them nowadays if people get home and find the tag on there, but it didn't set any alarms off at the store?
They said that sometimes the tags are dead and won’t go off

It was shipped. Shipped items usually do not go out of the front of the store where the sensors are

Y'all, I swear, you are really making a mountain out of an ant hill.
Get a strong magnet from the hardware. It will remove the tag from Disney items, and most others too. That's how 90% of devices are removed at the all the retail chains, those little mechanisms they put them in hold the magnet and when the tag comes in contact with it, the magnet inside releases, the sensor comes off. It doesn't take their special mechanism to remove it though, just holding a magnet to it will do it. At least try, it won't do anything to release the ink or damage the clothing, or even the security sensor. If it is magnetic you'll feel it release the hold, it's really obvious. If it isn't, then it doesn't work. But it is sure worth the try.
Here's sorry, I am no expert at making a video but it shows how easy it was. And these were pants from Disney, shipped to me with the tag on

Call the Disney Store, this has happened to us once, and they just smiled, looked at the receipt, took it off and gave DD a free gift "for the trouble".. some kind of Viewmaster projector with Mickey Halloween scenes....

I think her mom bought it onsite while they were all on a trip. So this is cm error.

Where does one get a strong magnet? (Or a weak one for that matter?)

Hardware store (the one I showed in my video came from Ace Hardware specifically)

Just had this problem with pants from JCP. I googled and found a youtube video. Put a plastic bag around the security tag to catch any ink if it happens to pop. I used two forks and a good wire cutter.
