It was slightly over a year ago today that Monty dog went for his very first checkup. He got a clean bill of health and his shots.
And slightly a week after that, he started acting weird. Not eating, sleeping all the time, barely moving when he was awake. Gagging and sneezing. We rushed him to the vet and found out he had a very serious case of pnuemonia.
I remember how terrified we were. We canceled any and all plans we had so that we could stay up with him all night, trying desperately to get him to eat and take his medicine. But we did. And it was worth it and I'd not hesitate to do it again if I had to.
As you can guess, all that effort paid off and today, Monty Dog is fit as a fiddle.
Throughout the last year, he's had to go to the vet for problems a few times. Once he had some bad stomach problems, which turned out to be nothing, and once we found out he had major allergies and needed medication.
Today, in one hour, will be Monty's first non-emergency vet visit in a year. He is going in for standard shots, and a regular annual checkup.
I'm still scared though, that there will be some sort of bad news. Or that he'll react badly to a vaccine. I love our vet, and she's been there for us through so much. But I still worry.
If anyone has a spare moment to send some pixie dust or good wishes to Monty Dog today, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you all.
