Update on the knock off North Face jacket saga

Thought I would keep you updated on what happens with the North Face jacket. I ordered a North Face Denali jacket for my 20 year old son last week as a Christmas gift. Those things are pricey. Well I found a great deal online so I ordered it. The site looked fine and I order online all the time. Well after I ordered I didn't get a confirmation email which I always get whenI order online. I got to looking further on the site and got a little nervous. There was no phone number, no address, etc. All I had was an email address. So I emailed and 24 hours later got an answer. I kept this up for several days and finally got a tracking number. After googling some I figured out this jacket was coming from China. I checked my credit card and the charge went through with the same amount they said but i called the cc company. They placed the charge in dispute which means they will not charge me interest on it for now. I have to wait 15 days for the jacket to come in according to the cc company before they will take further action. I am good with that.

Well started checking the tracking number in Fedex and UPS and it did not work. Tried the postal service and that is how they sent it. But, I have tracked it online through 2 websites, USPS and another for express mail and it made it to New York and is now within 2 hours of my house as of last night.

Will let you know how this all turns out but this is a lesson to me to not order from anyone but Amazon (as long as they don't carry books advising pedophiles how to get children) or other name brand stores.

OH MY! That's scary but it sounds like you took all of the correct steps to protect yourself. As far as Amazon is concerned, I also use to think that they were safe but I was looking to purchases some cologne for DH and found a really good price for it on Amazon.... like 30.00 less than the major dept. store prices. However, I started reading the reviews on the Amazon page and there were alot of complaints that it was fake and not in the original packaging when it arrived. I really did not want to pay retail for it but I did. Thank goodness for reviews though! I hope everything comes out O.K. with the jacket. Have a wonderful Christmas! April

Oh yeah. I read reviews and had read reviews of this particular jacket on other sites but there was nothing like that on this site. Here is the site www.lanorthfacesale.com.

I just got a pea coat from Lands End delivered yesterday. It is a Christmas present for me from DH but I wanted to try it on because the reviews I read said it ran small which is unusual for Lands End products. So I opened it and it is beautiful and fits perfectly.

Well, the jacket just got delivered to my office. And I have to admit it looks legit. Has the tags and everything. One of my employees was here earlier and I noticed she had on the female version of this jacket and it looks just like hers. I am a happy camper.

What makes these jackets worth a couple of hundred bucks? Is it just the name because honestly, I wouldn't pay 30 for a jacket like those.

Be aware, if it came from China it is 99% likely that it is a knock off. Even the tags inside and out are designed to look authentic. I looked at the site and even the North Face logo looks like it was a copy and paste job as it is fuzzy and unclear. When I googled the website name a bunch of posts came up insinuating it is selling knock offs. If you are happy with the quality then so be it, but if there is a problem with it you will be out of luck.

I have a 'real' one and one from Target. The Target one pilled more, but I didn't feel that much warmer, and I wore the Target (C9 by Champion) one more often.

TNF is produced in several countries...El Slavador, Bangladesh, Indonesia...and China. Just checked my current stock in the store and it could be legit. Where did it ship from....China or was it shipped from TNF's warehouse in San Leandro, California?

OP said when she checked her tracking info it was coming from China. Most mfg's don't ship from the factory to the customer, It is imported into the US to their warehouses and then distributed from there.

Also most companies don't allow their resellers to use their brand name in the websites they are selling from. For example: UGG will tell you that none of their authorized distributors will have the name UGG in their website name. Only uggaustralia.com which is UGG will have the name in the site.

It shipped from China. I am thinking it may be last years model because i saw some reviews of the jacket and some referred to a current model that was cut slimmer than previous years. I like this one better than a slim cut model. DS is average in weight but 6'4" so larger is always better.

They are light, warm and somehow control your temperature (you never seem to get hot or cold). I am a big believer in this brand. All of us wear them, even my 6 year old. I but them a every 2 years and recycle them to friends etc. There gloves are amazing!!
