Update on the Disney Fantasy?

Ack, how bad is it on the Wonder? We have a cruise on the Wonder in August with a room fairly aft and now I'm a bit worried about the vibrations. We've never stayed so far aft before.
Again, it depends on the routing. You'll be in Alaska, which means short sailing days at relatively low speeds on calm waters. You will be alright.

When we cruised from Galveston, where the first sailing days were in rough waters at max speed, the aft portion of the ship was vibrating so much that we felt like we were in a massage chair at dinner. Our stateroom ceiling was constantly rattling, making it very hard to sleep. There were pieces of paper inserted between wall and ceiling by previous guests and we added some of our own, but it didn't help.

As an aside...how do you manage to get those rooms? That's our favorite type to book on Carnival, but when I've looked on Disney they all seemed to be reserved for ADA rooms or not available at all.
First, just to clarify, we did feel excessive vibrations on one of our recent voyages while in an aft cabin. On other recent voyages it was "normal". The "problem" is not fixed/gone just not always an issue.

Because we like the aft rooms with the wrap-around deck we try and grab them as far ahead as possible. Or we get a GTY in that category (4E) and usually get one assigned closer to sailing. We have also be assigned one of the ADA rooms too close to sailing when they determined it would not be needed. It does not work all the time but for us, better than 50% success.

Wonder and Fantasy have had rattling issues for years. It does not happen all the time - mainly when the ships are sailing full-speed ahead, for example Wonder going out of Galveston or Fantasy on a Western itinerary - and can only be felt in aft staterooms. The last Fantasy dry dock didn’t solve the issue. Pick a mid or front stateroom and you won’t notice it.

First time we were on the Fantasy we had an aft cabin. It was horrible, our cabin shook so much it felt like we were on a giant jack hammer. We've sailed on the Fantasy 5 more times in midship cabins and have never had the issue in them.
Hmmm... We were in a midship cabin when we sailed last year. It was definitely more noticeable in aft areas of the ship, which is a real shame since so many activities are there. Even up in Remy & Palo we felt it pretty severely.

I'm sure part of this is personal tolerance. It bothered me a lot less than my boyfriend, who could hardly stand it at all. Good to know that the Wonder is rattling, too. We were considering an Alaska cruise but if it's having issues, we may be better off doing something else.

Anyone on the Magic recently? Would make some sense for issues on the Wonder to show up on the Magic if the issues are due to age.

I was on the Magic in November. It had some maintenance issues, but they were mostly cosmetic. The only non-cosmetic problem we had was that everything in our room kind of... creaked. Like old houses do, I suppose, but more often because of the natural motion of the ship. It kept us up a bit the first night, but we got used to it. No vibrations, though.

I’ll second what others have said the distance/sped being travelled seems to be the factor. If she is pushing top speed on all engines there is a very noticeable vibration. Alaska is probably fine. San Diego to Cabo seems to be near the edge of her range with just one sea day.

I didn’t find it annoying for sleeping or anything, kind of thought it was unique and part of being at sea but it was very noticeable. I know it bugs others more. My wife has decided we should avoid aft now though it really didn’t ruin our cruise or anything.
