Thank you everyone for your good luck wishes. We are now home and Jack ended up having 9 teeth taken out!! He is sitting in front of the TV and feeling as bright as a button. His grin is a little gruesome, (would be great for MNSSHP night!!). He will be home till Thursday, when he is able to go back to school, in time for his football tournament. In the meantime it's soup and weetabix for a while (no not mixed!!).

Thanks again
Jane

Glad to hear that he's OK, children are more able to cope with this sort of thing than us adults. My DS had 2 teeth removed under local when he was in Y3 ( he suffered severe constipation as a child caused by underdevleoped bowel muscles - and had to have laxatives every day and pure orange juice, the combination of which striped the enamel from his teeth) he went straight back to school from the dentist and was fine - it took me a little while to get over the feelings of guilt though! I don't know why I felt so guilty there was nothing we could do about it at all he had to have the medicine or he just couldn't go - well he went 9 days once without going can you imagine the pain he must have been in. He's 12 now and his adult teeth appear not to have been affected by his condition, so take heart his adult teeth hopefully will be a lot healthier - and I hope that he continues to do well.

Good news!

I bet Jack's glad to have that all over and done with :)
